My favorite is a honey mustard dressing (5 tbsp honey, 3 tbsp dijon mustard, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar). It's about 35 calories a tablespoon. I use it for salads and sandwiches. It's sweet and sour, so increase/decrease the vinegar per how sour you like your dressing.

I don't use salad dressing. Adding some cottage cheese, greek yogurt, salsa (or hot sauce) or any combination of the 3, works to dress my salad, and add flavor and protein.

Also a few slices of slightly too-ripe avocado with salsa and greek yogurt dresses a salad well, if you want something southwestern.

I prefer creamy dressings in liberal amounts. So this is how I keep my preference while keeping calories in check.

Classic vinaigrette is 3-4 parts olive oil to 1 part vinegar or lemon plus seasoning. I use a couple of reduced fat ones:

Asian: 1 part soy sauce, 1 part balsamic vinegar, 1 part nut oil (hazelnut, walnut or sesame all work well)
Ranch: is based on buttermilk which is very low fat being the byproduct of making butter. Use the lower quantities of mayo and sour cream in this recipe. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/19/ranch-dressing-recipe_n_3769342.html
Mexican: A jar of commercial salsa mixed with a chopped avocado.

I have been loving canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. The smoky falvor is amazing. Anyway, I chop some up small and mix in yogurt for a creamy dressing. It has slightly most calories than whatever yogurt you choose.

I am going to experiment with making a chipotle vinaigrette.

This is my go to for "*kitten*, its dinner and we have no dressing!". A variety of adaptations, so you are bound to have the stuff for at least one of them! I usually do the balsamic. http://www.food.com/recipe/basic-vinaigrette-dressing-with-8-variations-213989
