Getting back in shape after baby :)

I had a baby 4 weeks ago & am anxious to get back in shape and lose some weight. I gained too much weight during the pregnancy and need to lose it. I have about 20 pounds to lose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight however I would like to lose 30 pounds. I am nursing my son so I have to ensure I'm taking in enough calories for him. Does anyone have any advice I'm getting started?

Green tea 3-4 cups/day helps a lot!0 -
If, at 4 weeks PP, you have a total of 30 pounds to lose (20 of that to get to pre-pregnancy), you probably gained about the right amount of weight. Growing a baby is a total change for your body, so give yourself time to get back into your pre pregnancy shape.
You should wait until your 6 week checkup before you start more than light exercise (walking is fine, but don't plan to hit the classes at the gym yet!) It's important to let your body fully recover, which takes about six weeks. You can start eating at a slight deficit now (if you're breast feeding, make sure to include those calories as well) and then increase it after your post partum check.
As far as green tea, if you're breastfeeding, I advise against it (the caffeine may be too much for baby, as well as other properties that may be in breastmilk), or that you at least ask the doctor about it. It's not really necessary, you can get back into shape without it, just using proper diet and exercise.
Just remember ... it took 9 months to grow a baby and add on that weight. You aren't going to lose it in just a few weeks (that's a Hollywood perpetuated myth). Don't wear yourself out with extreme dieting and excessive exercise, especially if you're breastfeeding. Your baby needs you to have the energy and patience to take care of her.
