Hell Yeah!!! The NSV I have been waiting for!

We all look for it when we start on this journey of becoming healthy. The time someone who does not know what you are doing first mentions to you that you look different/good/thinner/like you been working out. That happened to me today at about 2 this afternoon when my boss said "dam dude you look like you just went to the gym and lifted weights". Everyone here knows what that means and what follows that. Many more people will be saying that to me soon and like a perpetual motion machine the motivation will start piling on.
w00t!!!!!!
Hell yeah!
It's my turn now!
9 days almost to the hour until I got that first "expected" NSV we all look for when we start on this journey. Years from now I know I will be saying "I was at work walking across the KIA showrrom when my boss....That is when I knew I was doing it right".
Does anyone else remember the who what when and where of that first time someone noticed a difference or am I just sentimental on this?

My boss (who knew Ive been working out) commented that she is really seeing a visable difference in my uniform now. My butt used to burst the seems and now I have no butt in those pants bcause they are too big!!! I love it!
Congrats to you!!!0 -
My upstairs neighbour noticed about an hour ago when we met outside. Yay me! :drinker:0

I was changing one day and my daughter walked by my room and said "mommy your boobs are getting smaller" I chuckled and turned around to go to my dresser and she yells " mommy your butt is getting smaller too!!"
Its nice when someone that you work with notices but its hysterical when its your 9 year old daughter!!!
Great job by the way!!!0 -
great for you!! That is ALWAYS encouraging to keep on doing what we are doing if it is working. I've lost (and gained) enough weight in my life that I have experienced those moments of when someone noticed, and it feels great. I've been on this journey again since January and have lost about 26 lbs, so with my size it's not too noticable at the moment, although I am noticing I can wear smaller clothes now. I'm not too familiar with the "NSV" term. Don't want to appear dumb, but what does that mean? Keep up the good work!!0

It really feels amazing when someone mentions the difference.
A couple of weeks ago my flatmate told me that my face looked really different! Now obviously, she knew that I'd been working out and counting calories but neither of us expected my face to change so much! Haha!
Being flatmates we see each other come and go a lot, but we rarely sit face to face and get a good old chat, so I guess that's how she was able to see a big difference.

Congrats! That is definitely a great feeling!
My girlfriends said something about how good I look a few weeks ago, but I kinda shrugged it off. I think my girls might lie sometimes if it makes you feel better about yourself. But last week, my team at work went out to lunch. One of my managers, who knows I've been working on my weight, asked me how much I'd lost and that she was really able to see a difference. It was definitley a great ego boost!0 -
Excellent!
I finally got my first one the other day. A friend of mine who hasn't seen me in about 8 months said, "Wow, you look tiny!" I didn't have a lot of weight to lose, but I'm still glad that at least one person noticed.0 -
I teach adult students at a trade school, and one of my super buff students (she is a yoga instructor) noticed how much I've lost and encouraged me to keep going. Its a wonderful feeling, when someone you know could wrestle you to the ground is proud of your accomplishments. Way to go on your NSV! Keep up the momentum.0

I had one this weekend. I ran into some acquaintances I haven't seen in 6-8 months and she said "WHAT are you doing?" At first I didn't know what she meant and just replied something like "not much what have you been up to". She then told me she was talking about what was I doing to lose weight that I look great. It felt good but was funny at the same time because I totally didn't go there in my mind when she asked me what I was doing. She then asked all about what/how I was eating and exercising because she wants to lose some weight. It really made me feel good.0

Yeah!!! WTG!!! Thanks for posting!!! xx0

You are SO normal -- it is an unforgettable moment! Great Job!
I had a boss notice last year, and it was great! Then again, I'm thinking that maybe I was wearing my "big girl" pants and hitching them up at the time? ! ? :blushing:
I've also had people notice that there's something different. . . but they can't quite put their finger on it. I always smile at them and keep them guessing.
This time around, I had a co-worker notice the difference in my face. I was really happy, but what is it with that? I'm like, yeah, I'm exercising my face! LOL
And this time, I am actually FEELING thinner myself, which is the MOST awesome thing. I think sometimes we are our toughest critics and it's hard to see the changes. But when you do, it is the most awesome feeling.
Nope, you are not alone -- congrats on your success!0 -
I purposely didn't say anything to anyone at work that I was working to lose weight because I was curious when it would get commented on just on its own. It was about 2 months after I started and exactly at 30lbs lost when the first person came and asked me if I had been doing something. Shortly after that same day a few others came around asking about it. Guess they were waiting for the 1st person to bring it up. lol
Now a few weeks later I've lost a total of 40 and have people asking me for advice about losing weight since they know it's getting done without drugs and without any type of surgery or crazy fad diet.0 -
My first one was a Mum at school, stopped me in the carpark and asked me what my secret was. I's only lost about 10kg at that stage.
The latest one, which really had me buzzing was my Mother In Law, she was overjoyed and so complimentary! It rocks.
I just wish we could bottle that feeling for the tough days!0 -
your stories are all so awesome. That is one thing we all have in common so we all know how precious it is and how motivating.0

Its the best feeling EVER! My sister who I have not seen in a month or so.....I walked in to our moms house and she called me "skinny minnie".....I LOVED IT!0

At 55lbs lost you have lost more than anyone who responded to this thread. Gratz to you - you are a champion0 -
It is such a great feeling to be noticed and complimented. Just to be recognized for all the hard work you put into being a more healthy you. Congrats on yours!! I started my journey about the same time I quit working in the kitchen at my kids' school back in January. I had worked there for almost 5 years. It was over the course of those 5 years that I started really putting the weight on. Summer time I would drop a little, but not all, then the next school year would start up and I just kept adding. School food is EVIL!!!!! Processed, fatty, loaded with carbs, pure EVIL....it is soooooo bad for you!!! It was addicting, it tasted so good, but I hated the way I looked and how my clothes fit. I thankfully saved all of my smaller items that I knew I wanted to wear again. Friends around me were starting to "diet" and I was seeing their results. I didn't want to be the "fat friend". So I jumped in. I knew it was different this time from all of the other times that I tried losing weight. I was making healthier decisions for not just myself but for my whole family. I literally became obsessed. I didn't find this site right away, but what an eye opener it was to see on paper what my caloric and carb intake was. I was thinking I was eating healthier, but what I was doing was starving myself. So, after almost 5 months I am as healthy, if not healthier, as I was when I got married, almost 18 years ago!!:drinker:
My compliment came from a friend of ours, whose wife is the one that had started losing weight and got the ball rolling for me. He came up to me and said, "I don't mean this in a creepy kind of way, but you are looking very skinny." It made me laugh...because how awkward it must have been for him to find the right words!!! It's a great feeling!!! I especially loved running in to the ladies I worked with at the school. Their faces were priceless :noway: !!! Congrats Arlo! I am sure that is just the first of many that you will receive :happy:0
