Running before Breakfast?

I have just started the cool running couch to 5k program, and I was wondering if anyone here runs right when they get up instead of after breakfast. I just feel like it would be a better use of time to do it before breakfast, so I don't have to wait to digest and everything, but I am worried about getting dehydrated or passing out if I run right when I get up. Thanks for the help!

Make sure you've eaten normally and hydrated well the night before. When you wake up, have a glass of water, and you will be just fine.0

The main thing is to listen to your body and try different things to find out what works for you. But generally I always do my morning runs on an empty stomach and drink about 8 oz of water just before I head out. Unless I am running 10+ miles I don't eat anything beforehand.0

I do my Couch to 5K after I get up and have some water. Then I go to work and eat breakfast - sometimes it is a tough thing to get going on especially when you are tired, but it feels good to start your day that way. Good luck!0

I usually do my running before breakfast. Mind you, the most I've run at one time is three miles (43 minutes), so it might be different for someone who was going a really long time/distance. Just starting out, I think you'll be fine.
Everyone is different, though. If you feel really weak or unmotivated first thing in the morning, you might want to try another time. Experiment and get used to what feels good to you.0 -
Thanks for all of the help/support everyone!0
