My wife mentioned today that it will always be a struggle. Being overweight is uncomfortable and exercising can be uncomfortable. It's all about what direction you want to go. I would rather be struggling to loose than struggling to accept the weight.0

Perseverance and determination can be there nearly everyday. Motivation seems to come and go for most people... You can be inspired by people, but really it's up to you to loose the weight. Read the forum posts, get to know people and strategies, trial and error is going to happen but I think what you want will click for you and you'll have lost the weight in no time! Best of luck, a year from now you'll thank yourself. I know I did!0

Add me Nicole! I'm at 228 or so now and want to get to 140! I've already lost 70lbs, nearly half way there!0

I am glad to help. I am just starting out today. So, I am here for you!
You can do it!!!0 -
You have to want it, and be willing to put in the work to get there (and stay there). I have lost 42lbs and can say I feel so much better in my own skin. The feeling I have now motivates me to keep at it. Feel free to add me as a friend.0

Motivation is fleeting and varies from day to day. The turnaround for me was to make the decision to lose and to stick with that decision. (Starting weight: 189; Goal weight: 135; Current weight: 146.)
Making the decision differs from motivation because motivation is fickle and can desert you when you need it most. Deciding that today and forever (seriously) you are committed to changing your life for the better in specific ways forces you to visualize your goal and take real steps to get there. I know it's cliche, but this isn't a sprint; it's a marathon.
Weight loss is about 80% based on diet. When I started MFP I was eating tons of sugar and processed stuff because it was cheap. Every week I started replacing one unhealthy thing (pre-packaged egg rolls, for instance) with one healthy thing (frozen salmon fillets, for example) that I enjoyed and that was roughly the same price. You don't have to be as rigid as all that, but deciding and committing to making one permanent positive lifestyle change per week will help get you where you want to be.0 -
It's so hard this time of year to stay motivated. I find myself making excuses for not working out. I catch myself eating cookies just because "Tis the season"! I have lost 75 pounds so far. I'd still like to lose 25. Im getting married in June and want to be a cute little petite bride! Add me! I need the motivation too!0

Feel free to add me as well!
Haven't used MFP in awhile, since I was largely on a bulking routine this past year, but it's cutting time for me now... so time to be strict on the eating once again.0 -

I don't agree with that. Yes, starting out and finding what eating habits work for you what doesn't can be frustrating, but once you figure it out and once you learn that you DO have control over your food intake and energy output it is a huge relief! If you are struggling with what you are doing then it's not the right regimen for you. But, not to dismiss your or your wife's feelings. Just wanted to note that getting yourself in the right place mentally first is the key to long term success. You can do it!
I also like what @kullerva posted.1 -

You'll feel better about yourself in a very fundamental way, a deep down to the core way, as you get control of your eating/ overeating. It takes time, determination, and persistence to develop new ways of eating and new habits for dealing with stress/holidays/etc. we are all on this journey together.

Hey everyone thank you so much for your words. I'am a little frustrated because I don't know how to start and what to do. I feel ugly and trapt in another body in which my soul is not free.0
