Can y'all give me your thoughts on Net Calories?

Where should I be - I've been watching overall calories, but, I'm thinking its time to start paying attention to the net.

Net is what you eat at the end of the day after exercise,,your net needs to be at 1200 at the end of the day after your exercise calories are deducted...
I keep hearing if it's under 1200 calories it can slow your weight lose....I don't always get to 1200 but I try to..

For example, today I ate 1461 calories, but burned 522 with exercise (using an HRM) - so I netted 939. I ate over 1200 which is what I thought I was supposed to be shooting for. If I aim for net 1200, wont that mean eating back everything I burned?

Yes I have heard repeatedly to eat back all or most of your exercise calories....some days I don't like today my net was under 1200,,some days I just can't eat anymore..
But lately I have been trying because I have found myself stuck,,not gaining but nothing lost on my last weigh in,,so i'm trying to eat back the calories and see if the scales go down,,( I know it does;nt seen right eat more lose more) but everyone on here says thats the way to see it go down....Good Luck...

Your net calorie goal includes a calorie deficit already, which should get you to that 1-2 lb weight loss per week, depending on what you chose in your settings. If you don't eat back your exercise calories, to get to net 1200, your body will lose weight for a while, then eventually think you're starving and stop losing weight because it turns everything into fat reserves to see you through the "hunger strike" your body is on. Now, I've heard some people don't eat back all their calories, and have one other MFP friend that lost 70lbs eating back every single calorie from exercise. At the end of the day, figure out what works for you, but if you eat back your exercise calories, expect to gain a little at first, then your metabolism will speed up and you'll start losing consistently again.
