I lost already 145lbs, but now I want to get lean and weight loss. So I been reading on macros. I figured out my macros,but how to calculate when looking at the nutrition facts on food label is my confusion. I need calculations for dummies.

    @shaneekl15 welcome to MFP forums.

    Seriously you have already figured out how to do something that most the rest of us still have not. :)

    Macros in my view are just general guidelines to help us lose, maintain or gain weight. My number one goal is better health with pain management being my major goal. My macro is 5% carbs, 15% protein and 80% fats.

    At my age I plan to live in a state of nutritional ketosis (not something that the masses will do) going forward as I have for the past 14 months. In my case I have to keep my daily carbs <50 grams and my daily protein <70 grams to stay in a state of Nutritional Ketosis. The fat at amount is the factor that manages my weight up/down/maintain.

    Google more about eating macros. They can be about anything that works for a person. There is no magic in the Macros.

    Congratulations on your 145 pound weight loss. Most of the rest have to master what you have already done.

    I try to eat no more than 100 grams of carb per day, so what I eat has to be healthy and whole. Otherwise, I use the standard recommendation from MFP. I'm losing weight.

    Don't listen to this. Carb intake is a personal preference. I like carbs, they make me happy. Calorie deficit is where it's at. :) Carbs are not bad. really

    Great job!!! High fives all over the place for you!
    Most nutritional labels barcodes can be scanned in to MFP and give you the marcos per serving. Double check them against the label to make sure they are correct after you scan. Try to get your protein and fats in first during the day. I find that makes eat easier to hit your macros for the day.
