It's hard to stay motivated when life happens. So much feeling is wrapped up in food. We are social creatures and can risk relationships by our food and drink choices! Yes, it's hard. However, it's not impossible with determination, goals, and the right (internal and external) communication.

Actually, it's easy to lose, it's the keeping it off that comes into play.

Yes, saying "no" to more [fill in the blank with delicious food here] is hard.

Fortunately, we've got all sorts of tools to help us, and progress is one of the best. This is a long-haul enterprise. Stay with it, forgive the blips & bumps, expect the ups & downs. Losing weight does NOT have to be miserable. Keep the calorie goal reasonable, log well, eat all your favorites, add exercise if desired.

Then stay with it, stay with it, stay with it (did I already mention that?)

If it were easy, we would not be in this situation to begin with. Most people are not overweight by choice.

Losing weight requires determination. How do you define hard? If you mean that you're always hungry, it may be that your weight loss goals are too aggressive. If you mean that you're tempted by all the sweets of the season, then, yes, it can be hard until you find a good balance (and one week into this program hasn't given you much time to find that yet.....but you will).

Keep up the good work. You can do this.

Hard, I meant both physically and mentally. When I first started I was very hungry in the morning, but not so bad now.

I am being quite aggressive in my goals, and yes it is hard work. I try to get my TDEE up to 3000 calories per day, measured by my fitbit and I am eating around 1300 calories per day. I'm working on getting a higher % of protein to work on maintaining as much lean muscle as possible but I strongly need to lose what I have *regained* Being that I am quite over weight and lost it quickly before, I plan to do it again and then go for a more moderate plan to continue on to the final goal which I never made it to before. Before I lost 100lbs from Oct 2013 to about July 2014 (after this I'd had major jaw surgery, lost 20lbs in 2 weeks due to liquid diet and overall feeling horrid) after surgery recovery I had a new face to deal with and a restricted diet. Once I could eat fully again I got back into exercise but didn't watch my intake at all. I got strong but also gained about 15lbs over a few months. Could definitely have been some muscle, I was working quite hard with weights at least for myself and a high resistance on the elliptical for cardio. I burnt myself out HARD. and gave up. So I spent a good 6 months getting strong, then lost it all and gained a total of 50lbs this past year. It sucks and I need the added weight gone ASAP. From today it's exactly 36lbs away. I've learned a lot, I know I can sustain this work for at least a few months then I can add back in a few calories to reduce my Deficit to a more slow weight loss. I was happy with my results at 216lbs, I wanted more but didn't have all the tools and skills to make it happen. Now I do!

TL;DR: I'm going to drop some srs Lbs real quick like and it's going to be very challenging and I will have difficult days! But I do know I can do it and it is more than worth it to me.

Mhm, maybe not a conscious one but most certainly a choice you make every day. The habits that got me overweight won't be making it into my future of health. That's a choice.

Actually it's the same process. You just get more calories.

It doesn't have to be hard :]
It's all about getting the numbers right.

Eat less than you burn (Fitbit is fantastic at calculating your daily burns - can't recommend enough!) and you'll lose weight. You don't have to restrict to the point of misery and you don't have to cut out certain food groups. Just eat - but eat less.
