Why did my teflon pan warp, and can I undo it somehow?

It was a gift from my mom. Made for glass top ranges. I made vercimili on it (sp). First you brown it, then I add hot water. Could that be the problem?
I also make hamburgers in it. I often add cold water when I'm done with things, since counter space is limited and I want to leave the pan on the stove (safe thing to do). Could that be it?
Could it be putting it in the dishwasher? Heat? I'm sure not.
The pan is curved and won't lay flat on the glass top like it used to. Rolly polly. Can I undo it somehow?

If you add water to a hot pan (submerged after cooking) you often warp it.

I always rinse my pan after I use it and have never had this problem. Perhaps it's a pan quality issue? I've used many non-stick convection pans over the years and some were phenomenal, others well reviewed crap. The heat used in cooking should not be nearly enough to remove the temper from the metal of the pan and water should not warp it.

Googling the issue seems to point to a low quality pan that has too thin of a base (i.e. not enough metal in the pan for cost saving purposes in the production).

I'd highly recommend getting a good pan designed for convection tops specifically. They should have a round ring of metal on the bottom in addition to the metal of the pan.

Yep! When my husband moved in I got so upset when he put a hot pan in the sink!

She got the pan at Big Lots. We learned our lesson about buying from there.
  • Ditto on the cast iron. Really we should not be using any aluminum or teflon coated cooking vessels.
It is unfortunate, but the ease of their use can be a contributing factor for negative consequences to your health.

My previous set warped from the dishwasher. I got a super cheap set of 3 pans a few years ago for cooking eggs and such (my main cookware are tri-clad stainless steel) and always hand-wash my cookware now. None of the teflon pans have warped and the teflon coating has remained in good condition.

I have always allowed my cookware to cool on the stove before washing, whether by hand or dishwasher.

Even a 200 dollar All-Clad pan has a chance of warping if you put it in cold water right off of the stove.

My money is on it being warped by the cold water - an extreme temperature change like that will almost certainly damage pans and other items with minimal flexibility.

I usually rinse my pans once they're emptied of food, but if they're hot to the touch, I always let them cool first before rinsing.

I have a $10 teflon-type pan that I bought at Aldi. It hasn't had any issues so far, though the coating will eventually wear off I'm sure.

One time I was at big lots and a guy tooted in the aisle and then ran away . when I went to pay for my items, he was exiting the rest room . he was sprinting to the door. Either he was a thief or he crapped his pants. Lmao !

I once had a Teflon egg pan
I'm giving it to the trash man
    It's no longer flat
It won't sit where it's sat
Without rolling the way an egg can.

You so earned it! I started snickering and gave in to a belly laugh that frightened my kitty.

    Nicely done.
