Food question

Hi :)

I was just wondering which is better. Fat free milk/yoghurt/cottage cheese ect or full fat.

Fat free obvuoisely has no fat but it is stacked with carbs whereas full fat has fat and lower carbs but it is saturated fat.

I'm always over on carbs and under on fat as it is but eating full fat foods would mean eating saturated fats which is bot healthy.

Some advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I always buy regular & just limit my portions more. Fat free low fat, reduced fat, etc., all compensate with added sodium, sugars, etc.; for taste & those are worse for you nutritionally because you then might run out of calories, before you meet your daily macro nutrient needs. I only consume those types of products, if the flavor I like; doesn't come in original. For instance Hot Pockets don't offer the same flavors, that Lean Pockets do. So for me, the Hot Pocket; would be a staple of my diet & the Lean Pocket, would be a treat.

It really depends on how they fit into the rest of your diet. I buy fat free greek yogurt because I rather only get 80-120 calories for a yogurt than 200+, especially considering fat doesn't fill me up. But overall, I wouldn't compare one food to another because dietary context (total diet) is more important. Eat the on you enjoy and forget the rest.

Milk is bad in any event, but full fat is better than fat free.

Full fat. That's my choice. It just depends on what else you are eating to get to your calories.

Depends on your goals. I love yogurt and like to eat like 350 grams of it at once, so I opt for fage 0%. I make sure to get my fat elsewhere though because it is important. Sometimes by adding some oreos to it :)

    "better" is pretty relative.

i drink 1% and not that often as i'd rather spend my calories elsewhere.

also, the low fat dairy products do not have added sugars or are otherwise loaded with carbs...they have more naturally occurring lactose (sugar) due to the fact that they have to use more volume of milk to make a gallon of milk than they would with full fat...because they have to remove the fat and thus add more milk to make up the difference...thus more lactose.

For me, never full fat dairy. I just don't have the calories to spare (I'm older). But I do find that including some fat in meals and snacks helps me stay full longer. We are all a little different in that respect.

The only fat I avoid is trans-fat. Newer studies point to saturated fat as not being as bad as originally thought. But then I don't have any medical issues with regards to fats or carbs.

I prefer low fat soya yoghurt as would rather get my fats from other sources like nuts and seeds; also I'm small so have to keep calories down anyway to lose weight or maintain.

I don't like how fat free yogurt feels in my mouth. I usually get 2% and that seems to work.

I eat a LCHF diet so my answer would be that full fat is better. Also, the increased sugar content in reduced fat foods does not help my blood glucose levels.

Nothing wrong with some saturated fat in the diet! Just stay away from the trans!(:

I eat LCHF, so I'd choose full fat. But I'd also choose that anyway, because I think it tastes better. It's calories I'm willing to spend.

To my mind full fat is true yogurt whereas low fat or no fat yogurt is just some chemistry I want to stay away from. The choice is yours :)

    Full fat for the nutrients.
