Searching food

Why can't I search the database for food? The app will only allow me to search the foods already in my recent or favorites. I don't always have the bar code to scan.

    Have you tapped the "Search all MyFitnessPal foods for:" link?

    I have the search box, the bar code scan and the rows listed as recent, etc.... there is no link. The search field searches what is in my list & not the database.

    Have you scrolled to the bottom of the list of foods displayed? On the Android version I am using (4.8.1), the "Search all MyFitnessPal foods for:" link shows up at the bottom of the Recent list whenever I start typing anything.

    When I use the app I just type what I want and tap The arrow for enter twice and it looks at the whole database.
