Hi all. Pulled my hamstring this weekend (playing hackeysack if you can believe that) and 3 days later, I am still feeling pain in certain positions. I am slowly coming to the realization that I probably won't be running for at least 2 weeks while this thing heals up. What other things could I do in the meantime? Would biking hurt a hamstring? I know swimming is a possibility, but I don't have access to a pool.
Would low impact versions of kickboxing be ok? I'm so disgusted.

Punching is a great cardio workout if you are unable to use your legs. If you get into a squatting position (if it doesn't hurt your legs) and throw some punches, even switching between different kinds, you will get some great cardio in! Also, try punching with the small hand weights that have the strap (so they don't go flying) you will add some muscle tone in there! Hope ya heal up soon!0

I pulled mine too playing kickball (if you can believe that). Anyway, I'm looking for advice too.0

Where does yours hurt? How many days past your injury are you and how much improvement do you have since the injury? I am hurting directly under my left buttcheek, and up into the glute a bit.0 -
OK - bumping to ask for more advice.
I did a 45 minute kickboxing dvd today (Turbofire) and I eliminated any moves that caused me to use the pulled muscle. Also, if anything hurt, I didn't do that particular thing. I was pain free the entire workout, whaled on my arms and used hand weights, and even managed some light jumping and jumping jacks with arm work.
So, my question is:
Since I didn't feel any pain during this modified workout, can I safely assume I am not prolonging my healing by doing this, and that I am not further damaging this pulled area of my hamstring? I would like to do this workout again until I am up to running again.
Also - when will I know when its safe to run? Safe to stretch?0
