Hi,

I'm going over on my protein intake and I keep looking at my diary and I don't know how to lower it :ohwell: I brought down my serving size for chicken breast from 8 oz to 6 oz but regardless I'm still over. Can someone look over my diary and advise how I can make it better?

Your default setting for protein are too low. Looking just at your entries for today, your protein intake is about where it should be. The defaults for fat could also stand to be a little higher and carbs a little lower.

I personally go over on protein every single day, its the one thing I'm always over on and its the one thing I don't try to to lower or follow MFPs recommendation on. I've read and been told that a high protein diet is important to fitness and helps build lean muscle while keeping you feeling full. I'm also taking protein shakes as meal replacements and as a post-work out recovery so I don't pay attention to the MFP guideline for that. So far I haven't heard anything bad about eating more protein that MFP recommends.

If there is one thing it is ok to go over on it's protein. Better to be over on that than over on carbs for sure!

Your protein intake is fine, as mp has set it too low IMO. As long as your not going over 200grams a day don't worry about it

Try resetting your goals to 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat. It's worked much better for me.
  • Thank you grglandr and crystalinda - I thought I was on the right track with the protein but after two days of logging I kept getting the red flag -

protein intake # is a minimum you should meet, not a max you should stay under.
