Gym access on offer

On Christmas day my parents pulled me aside and told me they were so proud of what I had accomplished this year that they wanted to help out. Money has been super tight lately and we haven't had the gas to go to our gym (I know Planet Fitness is not considered a gym by many, but $10 can't be beat for the ability to go walk when it's too flipping cold/icy to do so). They wanted to ensure I could still get in a workout when I wanted/needed and said while they couldn't afford a whole year, they could get me a 3 month pass for the Body Renew in my neighborhood for a reasonable price. That way if I couldn't afford to get to PF, or my husband got a job and couldn't go with me (anxiety issues) I could still go do something.
So my question(s): Is a pass different from a membership? If so, what do you have access to? Would you, personally, take them up on their offer or tell them you really appreciate the support, but no thank you? Been chewing on this decision for the past 3 days and am still no closer to an answer. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

You'd need to call that particular facility to find out what that terminology means. Language from gym to gym can differ.0

I lost weight without a gym. Eating right is most of the battle. I do exercises on the floor of my room (not cardio) every night for 20 minutes. Leg lifts, easy crunches, a bit of weights and stretching.0

I'd take the offer because I believe that having access to something, is better; than nothing.0 -
Each place will be different. Since we don't know the exact town your in, we can't really answer for sure.
If I where you, I would call there and talk to a manager. Tell them about the pass you got and ask what that includes and what it doesn't.
Also, see if they have a website that you can get info from.
Many places will sell all inclusive intro packages , so it may mean that you are allowed to use or do anything that the place has to offer.0 -
As stated you need to call that particular establishment and inquire. Whatever answers you get I would take up that 3 month offer and start busting my *kitten* from day 1 (as you only have a limited time) only after you are ready to commit.0

I'd take the offer but only if you were actually going to go, obviously. But yeah, home workouts might be a better option for you if you feel guilty about it.
A pass I'm guessing is just a 3 month membership.0 -
How wonderful and thoughtful of your parents to go this for you! This is very positive and refreshing after reading so many posts on here about unsupportive and sabotaging families.0

Actually, may I suggest something? Maybe you could ask for a stationary bike instead? Mine cost me $100, which is probably less than 3 months membership at a lot of gyms, and it's something you could use for years without even having to leave your house.0

Stationary bike. I've seen many at garages sales. Could you ask your parents to keep an eye out for one?0

I love Planet Fitness. For $20 a month you can't beat it. I don't need large weight stacks. I don't want to be bulky. I can bring a friend any time I want. The Aqua Massage tables rock. If I'm on the road I can use any of their facilities. If I need to tan for a vacation, that's included too.
I'm much more comfortable working out with obese grannys and college students than "buff beefcakes."0 -

Glad you like your gym - whatever works for you
Weights make you lean not bulky ...it's a common misconception but one that should be corrected
