Need faith that it is possible

My scale went over 200 today. I'be been exercising consistently for about 3 weeks. My food hasn't been great, but not terrible. The psychological impact of seeing 200 is making me doubt that losing is possible. It has just been a steady creep upwards since my daughter was born with so, so many setbacks and difficulty and lack of support. I've been so excited about a fresh start at losing, but now I feel like it's not possible. HELP!

It does take faith and it is possible. Setbacks will come but perseverance is key.0

I felt the same way a few years ago. The scale could go up, but not down. I thought to myself that I would eat my way into obesity after struggling for so long to avoid that. I was jogging 2 miles a day 4-5 days a week. What more did I need to do!?
Then an employee told me about MFP and that turned my eating habits around. I lost the sense of confusion I'd had when I "just couldn't seem to lose weight no matter how hard I tried". Now I log everything, weigh my food and when I stay under my calorie count I lose weight. Except for the holidays it's been relatively easy, as I understand what I'm eating. If I gain weight I look at the previous weeks' diary and know exactly "why I can't lose weight" or "why I keep gaining".
You just need to follow the program and reach out to the community when you slip and need support. You've got this!!0 -

what does food being great but not terrible mean? You can have faith in the fact that if you eat more than you burn you will probably gain weight and it works the other way as well.0 -
Why would it not be possible? Science dictates that if you're eating less calories than you burn, you will lose weight.0

One thing is surely possible- if you eat at a deficit you will lose weight.
The tricky part is actually being sure you've eaten at a deficit.
For this, a food scale will be helpful. Learn how to weigh your solids And measure your liquids. Log those items here on mfp.
It makes no difference what foods you pick as far as weight loss goes, you just need to eat at a deficit.
For overall well being, a wide variety ,well balanced diet is preferred by most.
So yes it is possible. It's up to you to make it happen. I was heavier then you when I first started and now am 135 lbs and have been maintaining for 2+ yrs. it takes is hardwork. Are you up for the challenge or do you want to stay how you are ? Your pick !0 -
it's possible...it requires consistency and discipline though, and that over a long period of time.
if you're consuming fewer calories than your body requires to support itself then your body must burn fat to make up for that deficiency of energy.0 -
Nothing is impossible. Keep on trying.0

Make sure you log EVERYTHING you eat. Skipping a snack here or there really adds up.0

It's possible - as other's have said - log EVERYTHING. Make time for exercise - try to make 'good' food choices. And - be patient - change takes time.0

Thanks everyone. I'm logging every day, exercising most and starting to see results. Saw 197 today.0
