Breakout on my face

Okay... Seriously... Not sure if this is where I should post this or not... BUT...

I have never had any form of acne.. And can honestly count how many zits I've had on 2 hands (and I went through puberty very young.. like 9-10 y/o)...

But since I've started to eat HEALTHY, work out, and lose weight... My face has broken out. I know I've been sweating more, but I take a shower pretty much right after a heavy work out. If not, I take a shower a few hours later, depending on the schedule that day.

One thing that COULD be different... Is I'm feeling better about myself so I'm wearing makeup more often.. And I hardly ever take it off before I go to sleep (which I have done my whole life- yes, I know it's a bad habit, but unless I take a shower before bed, I don't always take it off)... So it's not that it's THAT much different than my passed... I guess it's just happening more often..

Anyways, If someone could give me some feedback that'd be AWESOME...

Sorry if this was rambling a lot.... :-)

That happens to me too. My doctor prescribed a benzyl peroxide wash and it is working great. You can use it on your face and body.

I had this problem too. A few things that helped for me were to #1) wash off your make up before you work out. When you workout, your pores open and when you wipe off sweat with a towel your hand, you are actually pushing that sweat and your make up into the pores, which can then become infected. #2) Wash your face after you are done working out, even if you don't shower right after (once you are cooled down) and #3) yes, make sure you wash off that make up every night.

Hope those help some ... breakouts are no fun. Oh, I also use Persagal 10 when I do break out and it helps to clear things up quicker than leaving alone (wish I had known about this stuff in high school ...)

This is pretty normal when people begin to change their diet for the better. I recommend that you change you pillow cover twice a week. I also recommend an acne soap from www.vitacost.com by Dermaclear, Akne soap with a K. It's under $6 per bar and really works well.

I was having horrible issues with my face breaking out. I started drinking WAY more water and you know what? It cleared up! I realized that I have to:

    1) Drink 80-100oz of water a day (even more if I work out and sweat a lot).

    2) wash my face when I take a shower AND at night (even if I don't workout)

    3) shower RIGHT after I work out to clean the sweat and stuff out of my pores as soon as possible

    4) use a sensitive facial lotion that says "Won't clog pores" right on it.

ALWAYs wash your makeup off before going to bed! I had bad acne for a really long time and this is pretty much the main reason why. Also wash your pillow cases every week. The combination of wearing makeup to sleep and dirty pillow cases is really bad for your skin.

Very likely wearing makeup to bed is having a big impact. I know it's not easy, but get in the habit of washing your face at the sink every night (makeup or not, it's good for your skin to be washed before bed). It only takes me about 3 minutes, including eye-makeup remover, cleanse, rinse, moisturize.

The extra working out and change in eating habits could also be affecting your body chemistry. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, this can help.

Another possibility is that our (women's) bodies go through changes from time to time. Some women never have acne as a teen then get very bad adult acne sometime in their 20s or even in their 30s. (In other words, coincidental that it happened when you started working out). Once you have a good hygene routine, if it isn't clearing up, you can ask your doctor or see a dermatologist.

Washing my make up off BEFORE I work out makes a lot of sense! I will definitely start trying that...

    Thanks everyone!

Do you have a facial lotion that you'd recommend? My mom told me to a better lotion for my face as well, just didn't know where to start...

I can relate but my problem is since I started working out and eating better, I'm getting it on my back. I don't know what's going on. I shower right after I work out! I guess I'd rather have it on my back though where nobody can see it but it still sucks.

I had this issue as well on my forehead mainly...small bumps. Working out with no makeup helps and washing right after. Also to get the bacteria under control to stop it initially I used a Retin A cream. Havent really had any issues since.

I found that Oil of Olay sensitive skin works the best for me.

I was having trouble with it too and I actually started using face cleansers on my back - cleared it up right away. Now it seems to be under control. I only use the cleansers on my back after I work out now.

You got a lot of good advice here! Consider adding a toner to your skin care routine as well. It doesn't have to be a super strong one either. You'd be amazed at the dirt and oil still on your skin even after washing with a good cleanser!

DAIRY!!! Have you increased your intake of dairy? Not just milk, but yogurt, cheese, other "diet type" foods that contain dairy derivatives such as whey, casein, lactose?

Are you eating "protein bars" or "protein shakes"? The source of that protein may be dairy. Check to see.

Many people do not know that dairy causes acne (as well as gas, bloating, fatigue, sinus issues, resistance to antibiotics, etc).

Good experiment: eliminate dairy for 2 weeks and see if your skin clears up. Then add some back in and see what happens. You'll know pretty quickly.

    blessings.
