P90X vs Insanity

After having my daughter, I plan to try one of these programs and I was leaning towards Insanity. Then a friend told me I should do P90X before Insanity to build up to it??? I've seen their infomercials with couch potatoes getting up and doing Insanity, do I really need to do P90X before it? I'm no stranger to working out, still very active now while pregnant and plan to be until I deliver. I won't start the program until my 6 week check up when I get the all clear to really start working out again but in those first 6 weeks I'll be doing some light running and strength training and building that up. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.

P90X is intense, I recommend it before insanity. You won't breeze through it if that's what you're thinking...

Check out this site and it will help you make up your mind.

P90X requires equipment, the exercises take longer, and a lot of it is based around strength training.

Insanity requires NO equipment, shorter exercises, and is centered around tons of cardio.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....do the P90X before you try Insanity. It's not called Insanity for no reason! LOL, it's rough. Especially if you're not used to exercising. My husband, who is pretty fit and has done the P90X for a while was laid out on the floor just after doing the "fit test"! It...is...insane! (said like William Shatner)

I don't by any means think I'll breeze through it. I know either will be tough but I'm just not sure about the difference. Thanks ljd for the link, I'm checking it out.

And again, I'm by no means new to exercise, I run, play soccer, do yoga & pilates, and I've used most of Jillian Michael's DVDs, which can get intense and high impact when you're going all out. I know P90X and Insanity are higher intensity than even that, thats why I want to try them next, just can't while prego =(

My suggestion is do insanity if you want to lose fat. If I could do it over again I would have started with Insanity to burn the goo off then p90x to build up the lean muscles.

Interesting.. and I think you're onto something given the type of workouts they are. I haven't lost much doing P90X, but I have definitely increased my stamina & endurance, and am much stronger now than I've ever been. I've taken up running recently to change it up and get some sunshine these days.

Best of luck to you and congrats on your baby. :)
