Hi:
I suggest you join the MFP Fitbit group
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users
They have a FAQ that can be of help
I use a Fitbit Charge HR. Fitbit is step based activity, if you are moving your hand with the fitbit, it will count the steps.
Also, Fitbit will count your entire daily calorie burned (TDEE), not just the exercise performed. If you just start to use the Fitbit tracker, it will get better when you use it continuously.
I do not use the MFP calorie goal and I do not eat back my exercise. I just use the Fitbit calorie measurement (TDEE) as my daily calorie metric.
If I wish to reduce my body weight, I eat at (TDEE - a %)
If I wish to maintain my present body weight, I eat at TDEE.
If I wish to increase my body weight, I eat higher than TDEE
Good luck in your healthy journey0 -
I have the fitbit charge HR and I've found it to be really accurate. It may 'seem' like you aren't actually exerting yourself but your body is always, always burning calories - even by sitting down all day! Running around after your toddler and getting those steps in is definitely adding to your normal 'daily burn'. Trust in the numbers!0

The fitbit hr will also learn as you go, the calories burnt may get a bit lower over time, also, lack of fitness could be skewing your heart rate higher, making your activity level higher and calorie burn estimate higher. I have mine sync with mfp and the fitbit may show a high burn on its app, but grants me less exercise calories on mfp. I don't eat back all the exercise calories.0

I have the charge and it seems to be on point if your running or walking but I lift weights a lot and it doesn't come close to logging my calories burned. It's handy enough for day to day activities though. I have a kid as well and you won't find a better workout than that haha happy new year all!0

I have the charge, it has proved priceless now that I am just maintaining. The tdee calculator is amazing and really helps keep me on track. The step count also helps remind me to move around more on those lazy days.0
