Hey all, HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Just wanted to share an interesting study:
http://www.cell.com/cell/abstract/S0092-8674(15)01481-6
Basically it shows how reactions/response to different meals/macros seems to be very individualistic. I think this study and others like it show the importance that healthy eating/weight management is very complex and unique to each person. Aka don't get frustrated if a "diet" doesn't seem to help you. Everyone has to find what works for them. I think apps like this help as u can see based on what u are eating, weight, how you look, how you feel what works for you. Don't be afraid to be your own expert nutritionist/trainer.
Cheers!

Everyone does have to find what works for them but humans are a lot more alike than different.0

Here is the title "Personalized Nutrition by Prediction of Glycemic Responses"
U might have to copy the link and paste into google etc.

I agree, but I think information like this helps people understand why a certain macro ratio/calorie goal may not be right for them, but may be perfect for someone else. IMO it's the number one thing to understand in developing a personal nutrition plan and healthy lifestyle.

Interesting optioning piece, but in no way refutes that study. It, if anything, supports it by talking about "diet resistant" people etc. also look at the comments on that very piece.
"In short: you can’t beat thermodynamics anymore than anything else in the universe. You. Are. Not. Different. You can’t gain bodymass unless your energy intake exceeds your energy output because you can’t make something out of nothing (muscle or fat). And you can’t lose bodymass unless your energy intake is less than your energy ouput. These are rules that every system in the universe has to follow, including the human body. Nature’s rules, not mine to quote the all-knowing Mr. Miyagi. We may not like them, but we have to live by them anyway."
That's a pretty basic statement about ideal thermodynamic laws that doesn't apply neatly to human systems. In general the statement has some validly but my point/the study is that for each individual person they likely will benefit most from an individualized plan and understanding how their body/genetics/etc respond to food/exercise.
As the saying goes if it was that easy we would see more success/less obesity.0 -

Thermodynamics applies literally to everything in the universe and it is that easy, people just don't care, are lazy or try stupid things that don't work.0 -
