Hi everyone! My name is Holly. I am not new to MFP, but I am new to posting. I used MFP about 8 years ago when I was a SAHM to our 3 boys and had great success! Then, I went back to work full time and, 2 1/2 yrs ago, gave birth to our 4th son!! Now, I am 40, working full time, mom to 4 active boys, and back where I was a decade ago...overweight, tired, and grumpy. I am ready to feel healthy again! I am ready to be able to keep up with my boys!

My oldest is 16 and runs cross country. Besides becoming healthier, my #1 goal is to run in a local 3.5 mile race with him this October. I want to make him as proud of me as I am of him.

When I used MFP in the past, I never posted on the forums or got to know any other members. I am looking forward to meeting and supporting new friends this time! :)

ETA: I am not a runner at all! If anyone has any tips on training for a 3.5 mi run...or tips on running in general... i am all ears/eyes and truly thankful! I asked my son for advice, he said "just run". Lol Sounds simple enough!

Would probably recommend stretching first. But it's pretty much that simple. I just hit the treadmill today for the first time in 15 years. Only ran 20 mins but felt pretty good afterwards. I'm turning 40 next week and have set a weight loss goal of 100 pounds. At least 50 before I start any weight lifting. I'm afraid I can't relate as I don't have children of my own. But I do know kids like to eat and I can relate there! Did 20 years in the kitchen myself.

Best wishes and Happy New year to ya!

Thank you. Best wishes to you as well!
Yes, they do like to eat! Always so much yummy food around (downfall), and they're very active in sports and such, which means after working 9 hrs, I'm often on the road to practice, games, bot scouts...leaving minimal time/energy for working out (double downfall). Although, I do try to sneak in exercise when i can. Walking around the ball field while they're practicing, etc.

I just got back on the treadmill yesterday. Did an 18 min mile, mostly fast walking. Tried running, but I got way too winded after just a couple of minutes. :(

My bucket list for 2015 was to run a half. And I did it. This year I want to run 3 :) so that said I started out 76 pounds heavier and walked my first 5k and then just picked up speed. You just start slow and listen to your body. Good luck and feel free to add me. I am a mama of boys too

    Repeat Customer here!

    Returning after successful times before.

I am 27, mother of 2 girls. I live in HUNTER VALLEY NSW, AUSTRALIA.

I coach and teach swimming but rarely get much needed time for myself. Looking to change this once again.

I have been part of swim club for 3 months. Getting active and healthy once more.

I have 15kg to lose and varying motivation. The motivation is spurred daily by the torture of my work swimsuit mocking me with no mercy.
