I was just reading the guidelines from "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" (LOVE that show!) and they recommend no more than "25 grams of added sugar per day."
I've been eating Athenos greek yogurt every day for the protein & I just looked and it has 24 grams of sugar!!
What can I replace that yogurt with? Are there lower sugar varieties out there?
Thanks!!

There are many lower sugar yogurts out there.
Try plain yogurt and add your own fruits or nuts to them. Anything with flavors or additives tends to be immensely high in sugar.0 -
Kroger has their own brand and it only has 11 grams of sugar.0

i use Fage 0% Greek yogurt. It has 7g of sugar, BUT its a NATURAL sugar from Dairy (skimmed milk)0

Zoi whole milk plain yogurt is a good substitute. Add some stevia for sweetness - no sugar calories.
Look up Primal Blueprint for help in getting off sugar and grains (which add to the carb issue). It's similar to Atkins, but actually works long-term - it basically becomes a lifestyle change. After a month you won't miss the bad stuff anymore. And your blood sugar will straighten out, promise.0 -
I would highly recommend skipping the yogurts with fruit in them. Sugary mess. I do plain 0% greek yogurt with fresh berries and maybe a teeny drizzle of honey if the berries aren't that sweet.
Also, keep an eye on breads and things like that. You'd be surprised to notice there's high fructose corn syrup or sugar in healthy "looking" breads!0 -
Please double check those items. I found nutritional info online for Athenos strawberry and it has 14g of carbs, 10 of which are sugar.0

The amount of sugar we humans consume is insane - Doctors are saying it is going to cause the next health epidemic. I was told to try and look for foods that have less than 5grams of sugar - its really hard to do.
Here are some that I have found:
Light Rye Bread - 0 grams of sugar
Fish Crackers -0 grams of sugar
Pita Bites - 0 grams of sugar
Bruschetta - 0 grams of sugar
Marys Organic crackers(gluton free) - 0 grams of sugar
Liberte Yogourt - 1 gram of sugar
Still looking for a good cereal!!!
Everyone feel free to add your favorite low sugar foods!!0 -
Here are the nutirtion facts for Chobani 0% plain

Thanks everyone! I've gotten kind of hooked on the yogurt + honey variety which I guess is adding a lot of extra sugar...wish I could just like it just as much plain.0
