Mix it up by eating the same variety of foods as you used to, just eat less (calorie wise) of them.

Otherwise, try herbs and sauces. Herbs are pretty much 0 calories and can make things taste very different. Sauces can add calories but in limited amounts can really add some variety.

Salads are great and versatile. You can put anything into them.
Changing the flavour of them just by changing a couple of ingredients.
They can be as high or low in calories as you need them to be.

BBQ Chicken and Mango works really well together.
As does Red Onion, Watermelon and Mint.

    Experiment.

A lot of take away, which I want to stop. Otherwise, meat and veg, usually chicken. And spaghetti bolognaise.

Are you eating takeaways because you like them, or to save time? Because there are shortcuts to making home versions of take away food.

Do you like eggs? Frittata is easy to make and you can use up whatever you have on your fridge. It keeps well too, so you can have left offers for lunch or reheat for supper a day or two later.

Sir fry is really quick and you can pile a load of veggies in with strips of whatever meat you like.
    Baked potato topped with chilli.
Beef or chicken stroganoff with rice
    Risotto or paella
A big chunky stew or casserole that you can keep dippng into

Eating takeaway because I like them but also because they are quick and easy. I am a single mum, so I also have to cater to my daughter and I am wanting her to start life out healthy.

Yes, I like eggs. That sounds great, I will try that.

Thank you for your suggestions :)

Look at recipe sites, see what you like the look of, find healthy ways of making them

    This is a good site
    www.skinnytaste.com/2008/03/recipe-index.html

But you can also google your favourite recipe and add healthy or low calorie and get a load of recipes

So for instance just look at chicken recipes and see what looks nice to you and try it, and adapt the recipes to your taste ...the recipe builder is great for this

If I scan the chicken I immediately like the look of things like:
    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/01/arroz-con-pollo-lightened-up.html
    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/03/spinach-and-feta-stuffed-chicken.html
    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2009/02/balsamic-chicken-with-roasted.html

I don't like the look of this but I make similar with courgette (zucchini) instead of or as well as
mushroom, 2 red peppers, whole onion, celery and add thyme to the blackening stage, ignore basil, then I serve on rice http://www.skinnytaste.com/2008/06/chicken-cacciatore-43-pts.html
    Mine looks like this

What do you get from the takeaway? Then we can suggest an easy to try recipe from home for you?

Go to the grocery store .... wander the aisles ... browse through everything, read packages and labels ... find stuff you like that fits within your calorie limit.

And read recipe sites too ... like SkinnyTaste and Cooking Light, etc.
