Calories vs sugar/fat

According to google there are 89 calories in a banana and 84 calories in a chocolate biscuit. Now i know weight loss is down to calorie intake. BUT is it really better to eat a choc biscuit over a banana?
Should we be considering the amount of sugar and fat in what we eat too?
Keep in mind im not talking about being healthy im talking only about weight loss.

Purely from a calorie perspective the biscuit is better, makes no odds to weight loss how those calories are composed.
As an aside, that's a small banana for 89 calories!0 -
For purely weight loss, yes, the biscuit is actually better. The amount of sugar and fat don't specifically matter unless you have a medical reason they should.
For nutrition, of course, that's a completely different story. Plus, foods high in sugar and fat tend to be less filling, meaning that banana might keep you more full, and for longer, so in that sense even for weight loss, it might make it easier to stick to your plan.0 -
With a five calorie difference, I'd go for whichever was going to make me feel satisfied longer. The 5 calories saved by eating the cookie won't be worth much when I go in for a second. I couldn't ever imagine eating two bananas in a row, though, or a cookie after a banana.0

Depends. I usually make an effort to include fruit in my day and don't see any reason to eat a chocolate biscuit unless I'm wanting one and after I get in my more nutrient dense foods, but I also see nothing wrong with including such things as part of an overall balanced diet.
What I think is a mistake is to assume that having more calories makes something less good to eat. An overall calorie-appropriate day can be made up of higher and lower calorie items.Should we be considering the amount of sugar and fat in what we eat too?
Well, there's quite a bit of sugar in a banana (which doesn't make it bad). But I think for health purposes it's good to consider the overall nutritional benefits of what you eat and not to be immoderate in the amount of added sugar or sat fat (and also not to decide you need to cut them out). But from a weight loss perspective calories are what matter, as well as whether you will feel good and energetic and be satisfied. Sometimes the cookie might help more with that, depending.0 -

I lose faster on higher fat and lower carb, so yes for me. I am insulin resistant though, and studies have shown that those with IR may lose faster on a LCHF diet... Could be health related, I don't know if I could separate the two.0 -
Within the overall context of your diet, it really doesn't matter. If we're going to talk about eating either chocolate biscuits or bananas all day long, neither is a great choice. Think big picture and overall balance.0

For weight loss purposes (and setting aside the way I am currently eating for health reasons), it would depend on the nature of the chocolate biscuit. If it had a chocolate coating on it, or was otherwise sugar dense, the banana would be better because sugar triggers cravings for me. If it was a biscoti, probably the biscuit, since the absence of grain-based carbs also triggers cravings for me.
In other words a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. But the form the calories I eat take influences my ability to stay within a calorie deficit.0 -
Bananas have a lot of potassium. I have read that it gives you energy and for me... boy, is it true. Also, when I eat white sugar, I just want more and more and more sugar.0
