Tougher than I thought

Hi, I used to be an avid runner but stopped 5 years ago. As the weight poured on, I thought, "I can just run again and lose it." Well, 5 years and a hundred pounds later, it is harder than I ever thought. I downloaded the app and went to the gym this morning. Week one day one was quite the challenge but I am very excited about taking control of my health again. Just wondering if I am alone in feeling a little overwhelmed. Thanks for the support.

Definitely not alone. And while I'm not a runner I fully understand how overwhelming it can all feel. Many will say and agree that setting smaller goals is the way to go. Having just one HUGE goal leads to no success I like to say. Break your goal into smaller steps. 10 lbs.. 20 lbs.. Count your calories / weigh your food (if you don't weigh, you will eat more calories then you are planning for) Buy a food scale as measuring cups are really only good for liquids. Some people like to set a goal for 1-2 lbs a week.
Try to take your measurements once every 2 weeks or so. Some wait longer, some do it once a week, find what works for you. Your weight will fluctuate day to day. You will retain fluid, so don't think that all your "weight gain" is fat. Changing your diet/exorcise forces your body to re-evaluate itself. So it will fluctuate, but if you stick to your goal, eat at a deficit, and exorcise.. you will see loss. While you don't have to exorcise, almost everyone agrees that it helps the process along. Since you plan to run again, exorcise looks to be a big part of your goal. But most of all.. good luck, you can do this and feel free to add me as a friend. I enjoy encouraging others on their journey. Many of us are, so don't be afraid to add us or reach out for an ear to listen.0 -
You can do this! I lost over 100 lbs. Just remember, it took you 5 years to gain that. It won't come off in a few months, but, stick to it! Add me if you need a friend!0
