Hello to all. My name is Denise and I am new to myfitnesspal. I joined this site today because I am tired of being tired, both mentally and physically. Each day I make an excuse as to why not to excercise...today I made a promise with myself that yesterday was the last day I would allow myself to accept those excuses. So having said that, I am starting this today with no one holding my hand....standing here with my hand extended, I am eagerly awaiting your hand to join me in the walk to loose weight together. I welcome all conversations, advise, commens, suggestions or whatever type of motivation that you have used that has successfully saw you through to loosing weight the healthy way, once an for all.

Welcome, Denise. I have been here for over 8 months and MFP has been a godsend. The difference between this and other attempts at weight loss is that this is not a diet. This is a change in lifestyle. Add friends that will help motivate you and keep you accountable. You have found the place that will change your life. If you make the decision to change your lifestyle, use the tools, follow the plan, and ask for help when you have issues, you WILL succeed. Feel free to add me, and if you're committed, I will be your cheerleader. Good luck!
  • Welcome. I really struggle to make myself get up and exercise too. I don't go to a gym or anything I just watch fitness tv episodes and try to exercise with them or ride my stationary bike. It is soo hard to get started but you will almost always feel better after having done it and you'll gain so much energy and sometimes I'm less hungry when I exercise (sometimes not). You'll get there.. you can do anything if you really want it.
  • Hi Denise,

My name is Laura and I would be happy to hold your hand and do this together with you. I only joined a couple of weeks ago but I am so happy that I did, just keeping track of everything I eat is such a help to me. I follow the WW pts plus program but I still use the food tracker to keep everything in check. I am like you with exercise...it's so hard to motivate myself to get to the gym, I am fine once I get there but it's the getting there I have trouble with. I am looking forward to our journey together...Go ahead and add me to your friend list.

Remember, the important thing is to get moving. I used to hate walking or any other kind of exercise. Then I cracked a rib and the only thing I was allowed to do was walk, so I started with short distances, and started building. I am up to 7 miles now and have walked 2 10k's in the last month, and am hoping to be able to walk and jog a half marathon next year. The point is, you will start to feel better just by starting to walk, and as you start to see success, you will be motivated to move even more. I now feel guilty when I can't get in at least an hr's worth of exercise. Just give it a shot!
  • You will find tons of support here on myfitnesspal ... this is a great site if you use it right, enter your calories and exercise watch you are not going over in the kinds of food you shouldn't eat and eating the right stuff... if you feel like you can't do it, browse the boards here, make a post asking for some motivation if you have to... you seem like a really nice woman, read your profile, what you wrote about not noticing how you looked and seeing the old you all the time in the mirror...i felt that too, and when you really see what you have become, it is heartbreaking almost... goodluck, you can do it if you really try! we all can!
