Depends on your goals and preferences. General guideline:
Longer rest generally for strength-oriented training (especially when talking heavy compound movements)
Mid-range rest for more volume-based workouts (so the workouts don't take a million years to complete)
Short/no rest for more endurance/cardio/circuit-type training.0 -
As long as you need, could be a minute, maybe 5 minutes. I've never felt the need to rest more than 5 minutes. For my main lifts (Bench, Squat, Deadlift) I usually rest about 1 minute (or less) between warm-up sets, then 2-4 minutes for my top working sets.0

depends on what you are trying to achieve or what you are doing. When I'm lifting I rest at least 2 minutes and sometimes up to 5 minutes between sets. But sometimes i do those high rep cardio type circuit workouts with groups and we only get 20 or 30 seconds between sets.0

So with strength u kinda rest more than with cardio0

Since I don't lift really heavy, I make sure my rest intervals are shorter than my working sessions which keeps my heart rate elevated, but it's an individualized thing, too, because you don't want to not rest enough to finish your sets with proper form.0
