strength training at home

For reasons of children/ time/ husband who works away a lot, I find it hard to get to the gym regularly. I have kind of nailed cardio at home, with skipping rope and various moves from Shred but am looking to build up a strength routine. Does anyone have any moves or tips that they could share, things that require little in the way of equipment? If it's relevant, my BMI is around 19.5 so I am looking to tone and strengthen and burn calories more efficiently rather than to lose any weight ...and like most women, my problem areas are hips, thighs and bottom.

any advice appreciated!!

Grab a set of free weights. You can do squats, deadlifts or lunges to name a few.

Look up tabata workouts on youtube. You can download a tabata timer for your phone if you have a smart phone. You could always get a cheap set of adjustable dumbbells, and get a pretty decent workout in that way too.

tababta is awesome for strength training....also check out kettle bell work outs. You can work out multiple muscle groups using a full range of motion.
