Discipline not Motivation

I was on Reddit recently in their get motivated section... And I read someone's response to "how do you stay motivated". And the reply was "motivation cannot be sustained...you need discipline". Sometimes we just have to "just do it". And that means discipline. We use discipline to not overspend, to go to work, to do our chores. I am embracing this philosophy.. any thoughts?

It's absolutely true. You just won't always feel motivated to make the right choices, sometimes you just gotta do it, despite how you feel.

And now, I'll be using that discipline to get offline and get to the gym and the office!

I had never thought of it that way! Yes, it's definitely discipline that has gotten me this far. It's a choice that I make every day to be my best self. Great share!

For me, it's habits, not motivation. It takes some discipline and/or motivation to establish a habit. After that, it's just what I do.

I remember a thread like that! A quote that was posted there, that really stuck with me and helped me tons since is this:

'Don't rely on motivation for anything. It is fleeting and unreliable. Discipline, however, is unyielding. Force yourself to follow through.'

Motivation starts the fire in your heart. Discipline keeps it burning through the night.
