65lbs to go before aug

Would love to lose 65lbs before Aug, is this possible without exercise? I almost 45 and can't exercise due to painful health problems. Anyone feel free to friend add me

It's technically possible as long as you're eating fewer calories than your body needs. However, maintenance will be incredibly difficult, if not impossible without exercise.
Exercise and movement have all kinds of health benefits beyond weight loss. If you can move at all, it would be really good to start incorporating more movement into your day as you feel up to it, like dancing to your favourite song, a walk around the block (or even just to the front door) or punches while you sit and watch Netflix.0 -
Yes it is possible to lose weight without exercise as weight loss is primarily based on calorie intake.
Will your body look the way you want it to when you lose the weight is different though.
- can you walk? do that
- can you swim or do water based activities - try that
- can you get your medical team to help devise a programme where you can follow a progressive resistance - try that
But yes you absolutely can lose weight.
Ideally you should focus on about 1% of bodyweight per week and no more - due to the fact that all scale weight loss is made up of water, fat and LBM and you really need to preserve as much LBM as possible.
will that get you 65lbs in 8 months? so just over 8lbs a month .. possibly not .. but the actual amount doesn't matter it's the journey and getting on the right path
what you can be assured of is that if you start now, by August you will probably be feeling a whole lot better

I'm hoping to lose around this amount by August/September as well!
I'm unsure how likely it is but I think with a good diet you should be able to lose at least a good
Portion of that. Diet is the main aspect of losing weight so I shouldnt think not exercising would be an issue x0 -

It is possible, but at that age (I am 44 BTW), you are going to end up more than likely soggy (skinny \fat) if you don't do some sort of strength training.0

I'm 46 and I lost about 75 pounds over the last 9 months. It is possible but I had 125 pounds to lose. If you also have a lot to lose then its definately doable. But as you get below the 200 pound mark it sloooows down considerably. I don't really exercise but I do use a fitbit to get me off my butt as much as possible. My goal is to lose a 100 pounds in the first year. I probably will come up a little bit short of that goal but not by too much.0

I lost the same amount over a longer period of time simply because I wanted to eat more. It is definitely doable before August. I think that's about 2 lbs a week.0

It's possible to lose that much in that time frame, but you'd have to sustain a 2 lb/week loss for 8 months straight (so eating 1000 calories below maintenance each day), which might be a stretch depending on your stats.
Do yourself a favor and ditch the deadline though. It's fine to have a goal to shoot for, but try not to focus too much on what the scale and calendar say.0 -

Yeah I'm surprised no one has pointed out that a lot will depend on how much you (OP) have to lose in total.
If 65 lbs in total, then that's probably an aggressive goal. You can probably sustain a 2 lb per week loss in a healthy manner early on, but that will slow down the closer you get to your goal.
40 lbs would be a reasonable goal by August I think (if 65 lbs is your total amount to lose.)
Or shoot for the 65...but be prepare yourself so you don't get disappointed if you don't make it (instead, celebrate how close you get to it, even if you fall short).0 -

I think 65 lbs is do able. I have lost close to 80lbs since Aug, but my goal is to loss at least 140lbs. I would watch your carbs like a hawk and do any activity you can. I started walking 15 minutes down the street and then I would turn around. It wasn't about speed or distance to start it was just about getting active.

Wow 80lbs since Aug is amazing! What are your stats and how did you do it? This past week I only lost 1lb, I am a bit naffed off but maybe it's because I lost 5 in my first week. Still it's nearly half a stone.0

I'm trying to lose 60lbs. I started at the beginning of November and I'm down 30lbs. It went off really fast until around 25 lbs. Now the weight loss has slowed considerably. Still losing 2 lbs a week though. If I can keep 2 lbs a week up I'll be at my goal in 15 more weeks! yahoooooo!0

First week is the whoosh of water weight. Healthy rate of loss is 2lb per week, which decreases as low as .25-.5lb a week when you're within 10-20lbs of goal.
Meaning, if you are doing this healthily and as a lifestyle change, your goal may be to aggressive. If you are disappointed by only 1lb loss, you're going to very disappointed when there isn't water weight to lose.
Timelines often sabotage weightloss in the end as well. When people see that they are not on track, because weightloss is not linear, they give up, especially with no exercise to help your deficit. Instead of viewing your journey as having a set due date to lose 60lbs+, focus on health or mental gains.
All in all, yes it is possible to lose weight without exercise; weightloss happens in the kitchen. But having a timeline on your weightloss may set you up for failure and not correct the problem that got you here in the first place.0
