Hello!
8 years ago I tore my right ACL and gotthe reconstruction a year later and a year after that I tore my left ACL and a few months later I got the same surgery and bam after I was fully rehabilitated I tore it again. My knee have never felt the same. Some surgeons say ' its better then new ' but no its not. I have chronic knee pain and I live with through work, my workouts and daily life. I guess I'm reaching out to anyone else suffering kind of in the same situation? I need support or maybe advice in what has helped you get by with the pain?
Thanks a bunch!

Had my left acl completely tear 2 years ago. Had reconstructive surgery/ complete replacement. Knee is not the same. Don't have chronic pain but movement and support in my leg is not the same.0

I has reconstruction after a ski accident 3 years ago. I am lucky enough to say that my knee is as strong as ever before. I did lots and lots of physio, some of it very tedious but it paid off. I still have the occasional reminder that it is there, and Wear a huge brace now to ski in, but generally it's good. If it were to cause pain I wouldn't exercise.... If I run for more than about half an hour, it hurts, so I don't do it. Which from someone who used to run marathons is quite tough.
Instead I discovered cycling which, in conjunction with the physio has strengthened the muscles around the knee. I now do squats and lunges without problems although I am always aware of the danger.
My advice is to get some more physio, and do the exercises they give you meticulously... Even after all these years, I am sure you can build strength which will in turn reduce some of the pain and discomfort.
