Water Weight

So I have been drinking 10-12 8oz. of water for the past couple of weeks, but my water weight still seems to be through the roof. I don't want to take any water retaining pills (since I don't want to be popping pills all the time)
Any suggestions or ideas why it is still through the roof. I rarely go over my sodium in take.

Lower your salt intake.
Yes- I was drowning myself (15 cups a day) and was still bloated. I reduced sodium and dropped a couple lbs pretty much over night.0 -

Here is a recipe from the "Fat Belly Diet" cookbook specifically for bloating/water retention. It's called Sassy Water. Drink a new batch everyday . Strain the ingredients or pour them along with your water and eat them if you like. If you find the flavor too strong, prepare your pitcher in the morning instead of the night before so the tastes won't intensify as much or use half the amounts of ginger, lemon, and mint. Use any type of mint (peppermint, pineapple mint, etc..) but don't substitute dried mint or mint extract. The same goes for ginger.
Here is the recipe:
Combine 2 liters (about 8 1/2 cups), 1 tsp freshly graded ginger, 1 medium cucumber (peeled and thinly sliced), 1 medium lemon (thinly sliced), and 12 small spearmint leaves in a large pitcher and let blend overnight. Drink throughout the day and finish the pitcher by the end of the day. Drink for at least 4 days. You can drink longer, but at least 4 days.
Ginger calms the GI tract, mint eases indigestion, quiets the muscles of the intestinal tract and reduces water retention.
This should help with your water retention.

So do you just put a couple of drops of lemon juice in your drink or is there a ratio to use?
Thanks for all the tips!0 -
If it has been weeks maybe it isnt water.0

It could also be your thyroid? Are you swollen? If after a week of upping your intake of water and reducing your sodium there should be a change. If not you should make an appointment with your doctor to get your thyroid levels checked.0

I have issues with water retention always! The thing that works best for me is increasing the amount of protein I eat and movement. Yesterday I jumped (more like bounced) on the trampoline for about 10 minutes...started clearing the water immediately. Apparently jumping on the trampoline is very good for the lymph system. Good luck!0

Water weight can be a crazy thing. I mostly just ignore it. If I'm heavier around a day or four, but my weight comes back down to within a pound or so...I'm never concerned. Additionally, its impossible to gain 3lbs etc in one night...so when the scale jumps and stays...I know its something else...like retained water or waste.
Heavy or intense workouts will cause your muscles to retain water for repair. Shedding that water before your body naturally is ready is pointless. Now...shedding sodium bloat...lol, go for it! I've found though that a couple days of extra water intake does it for me.0 -
Try drinking some coffee - it's a natural diuretic.0
