Ok people, I got a little hungry this afternoon had a snack, and another one and that rolled into a much larger dinner than I should have, putting me well over my allotted calories for the day. What's my next move?

Since you have finished dinner you say you'll try again tomorrow and create a plan to have an adequate snack in the afternoon.
One day of eating bad doesn't derailing things, just like one day of eating good won't make you lose weight.0 -
Log it and move on0

Just return to your regularly scheduled calorie deficit like nothing ever happened.0

Log it and move on. Use this as a learning experience.0

I like to know what my "maintenance" calories are too because some days if you've been working out you really just need to feed the hunger. haha So some days I definitely go over, but yeah. Just log it and aim for the goal tomorrow.0

Log it, move on, if you have the time and the inclination maybe take a walk.0

Regroup for the morning. It happens. I would also suggest taking a look at the last few days of your log to see if you have been undereating, or not hitting your macro goals. This may provide some information which could reduce future incidents. I always reevaluate when I've had a challenging day to see if there is something that could be changed.0

First, log it.
Then, wallow in your self-loathing to remind yourself what that feels like.
Then, move on.
Tomorrow, eat squeaky clean, and glorify in that feeliing of self-satisfaction to remind youtself what THAT feels like . . .
Then store those feelings for later so the next time you're about to slide you cab focus on how that much better that feeling of self-satisfaction is than that feeling of self-loathing.0 -

If you continue to be hungry, you may want to decrease your deficit or switch out your macros to increase ratio of fat or protein. Increased fiber helps me feel fuller. One more tip, to make sure you are not mistaking thirst for hunger, drink more water or other low/no calorie liquid.0 -
Log it, then make like Elsa and Let It Go. One day won't make or break you. If you need to for your own mental health, or you find it being a regular issue, reflect on the situation and see if there are any triggers you can identify for the behavior and work on either modifying your lifestyle to avoid the triggers or to set up systems to prevent the behavior in the presence of the trigger.0

Just log it. Tomorrow is a new day.0

Awesome support people! Thanks for all the positive comments.0

Let it go - these things happen. Tomorrow is a new day0

Just remember that this happens to the best of us. Don't let it get to you. Move on and make better choices tomorrow!0

I'm with this, also. Consider whether your deficit is sustainable or if changing up macros is all you need. It takes a little experimenting.0 -
Pick your self up, brush it off and get back to it. Everyone slips up, nobody is perfect. Just keep on keeping on and don't let one failed day ruin everything.0
