Moderate speed of walking

What's moderate intensity for a 210 pound 5'6-7 female?
I'm stumped by an online source, which says a moderate speed is about 2 miles per hour. Isn't that 176 feet per minute, or three feet per second? That sounds kind of confusing to me. Could someone help? Thanks.

im not sure the 'footage' matters. 2 miles per hour is 30 minutes a mile, which is a relatively slow pace, not sure i would call that moderate.

This source says that around 120 steps a minute or 3 mph provides a health benefit and 150 steps per minute or 4.5 mph is enough for aerobic fitness. It seems about right to me, and steps per minute seems a much better measurement than mph. A taller person with longer legs doesn't have to work as hard to walk 3 mph as a person with shorter legs. Steps per minute is the same regardless of height/leg length.

I'm only 4'10" and 2 mph barely even equates to a leisurely stroll even for me! Boooooring!

I would think 3-3.5 moderate, slower and it is strolling, faster and it is purposeful cardio, or missed the bus speed.
3 is probably my average walking speed at 5'1.

If you are new to exercise go at a comfortable speed for you now. It will naturally increase the more you do. Baby steps.

    Cheers, h.
