Diabetes and me

So for the last two weeks (including Christmas day) my blood sugars have been pretty good. Not perfect but good.
My doctor called me the other day to say that they're good. Considering I started out at 29.7(Canada), and now I average 6 or 7 in the morning, 8 or 10 before bed, that's pretty darn good.
I even had a few low days. I know that's not good, but I was dealing with a pancreatitis flare up so wasn't eating as I should normally.
All this to say, I can now concentrate more on actual weight loss and fitness. I was working on the whole blood sugar problem more than weight. I know, they sorta go hand in hand, and I have lost 5 lbs since this journey began in July. But now I'm ready to really rev it up. I've got an appointment with the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. dietician next week who is going to give me real numbers. No more 'well try to eat less carbs and more protein" I need numbers.
Just thought I'd put this out in the universe.
Have a great day everyone.

That's great! I am really happy for you.

One of my good friends is currently struggling with type II diebetes. It makes me sad to see him not following the doctor's orders.

That is terrific control in a very short time. Good for you! Get as much info as you can, but remember, you are the expert about you. My husband's experience was that changing from our version of low carb to the Canada Food Guide that the dietitian emphasized did not work so well. He had to go lower on the carbs. Doctor recommended changing back to low carb but with more knowledge this time. Best wishes and Good Luck on your journey to better health.

I've adjusted my macro percentages on MFP to the following. I've lost 78 pounds since July. Of course, your mileage may vary. For me, I can have 45-50 carbs per meal without spiking my blood sugar. Feel free to add me if you would like to discuss!

    Calories 1400
    Carbohydrates 105 g 30 %
    Fat 70 g 45 %
    Protein 88 g 25 %

Hey shinycrazy. Great weight loss! my numbers are
    cals 1350
    Carbs 118
    Fib 30
    Protein 152.

I won't say I stick to this every day, but I'm getting there. I did see a dietician (I had won a free session) and all I got out of it was, eat thirty grams of protein at breakfast, protein at each meal, and no white potatoes or bananas for two weeks.
So, the CDA dietician said she would give me specific numbers to follow, but in the meantime this is what I've been trying to do.
I'll be sure to ask about the fat too. I seem to forget that one.
