Hey I just got my HRM a few weeks ago and was wondering, why do you have to get the chest strap wet? And is it okay if I put the chest strap on 30mins/an hour before I work out? I usually put it on at home then drive to a trail to hike on or whatever and am not sure if it needs to get wet right before I used it or what...

You need to get the chest strap wet so that it sticks to your skin better. If it is dry, it can slip around more. I have tried it both ways, and I can feel the difference when I am working out. So basically, you get it wet so it can get a more accurate reading of your heart rate. And yes you can put it on ahead of time. Some people wear theirs all day long. I sometimes work out twice a day. I will put it on for my first work out... then just leave it on until I do the second one... It does no harm. Good luck!0
