Hot Yoga Calorie Burn

Does anyone have an accurate count on how many calories approximately Hot Yoga burns? I do a hatha style with some long holds and some flow just have no idea how to log it.

Not as much as you'd expect. For grins and giggles, I wore my heart rate monitor to my hot yoga class one time. For 75 mins I burned less than 200 calories. (Yes, heart rate monitors aren't a fool proof tool (especially for stuff like this), but that's the only tool I have to run with.) I'm in decent shape, so my heart rate never really spiked even if I was huffing and puffing and dripping in sweat.
You sweat a lot in hot yoga, but it isn't indicative of burning extra calories. It is just your body's way of trying to cool itself down.0 -

Indeed.Like I said, HRM aren't a great tool, but it's all I have.
Not so much not great but utterly meaningless in the context.
HR is only a meaningful proxy for calorie expenditure in a very small range of circumstances. Definetly not meaningful for non-aerobic exercise.
Even Astanga is only at the bottom end of aerobic.

HRM's are terrible for Hot Yoga. When doing Hot Yoga, the heat causes your body to increase your heart rate to use your blood as coolant. That's where claims of 900 calories / hour got started for Hot Yoga. I'm actually impressed your monitor clamped it down that low. Some Hot Yoga must be hotter than others I guess.0 -
I do bikram (90 mins in 105 temp) and I count it as 150ish. 250 MAX on intense days. It is too individual to estimate. I have classes where I use muscle more, etc. It depends how hard you work and I've found it was very variable. They actually did a study where they hooked someone to one of those oxygen things that measures your burn during yoga and found they burned about 400. But they were a lot larger than me so I figure if I lowball I am safe.0
