That's a great big number...

After my third, I went down to 163. Great, only 20lbs to lose.
I didn't notice the next 40lbs creep on. Literally. I did notice clothing not fitting, but...I guess I thought I was just having bloaty days? Weeks? Months? Continuously?
My point is, now there's 65lbs to evict, and that number is daunting. It's not an evenly-distributed 65, either. Mostly stomach, sides (looks like I have bum cheeks above my bum cheeks), and butt.
For those who have had 50+ to lose...how did you stop yourself from just giving up because after losing 10, you still didn't look any different and sweet crap, there's still way more to lose?

I just kept my head down and kept plugging away. No looking around at other people's progress. I made a success thread at the end of 2014 but rarely go into the Success forum because I don't really find that looking at other people is motivating. Instead it makes me think "when will I get there?" So I pretty much just kept plugging away at 5 lb goals throughout the year when I had my big loss. Now I'm at the point where I have one pound goals.

Oh, and also? New clothes. I got new clothes as soon as I went down a size. Yes, it cost a bit of money but it was worth it to me. No sense looking like a sloppy mess as I'm working hard trying to look and feel better.

I reminded myself that a bad case of "dontgiveadamned" was part of what GOT me 72 lbs overweight, and that recontracting that dreaded condition would be detrimental to my efforts to lose it.

I gained 75lbs....that was such a daunting number for me as well. One day I decided the pity party had to stop & get to crackin'. I did like @jemhh & continued to plug away even when I felt like giving up. I am now down 40lbs & have lost a LOT of inches. I actually look smaller than what I weigh & I am OK with that. ;-)

Keep logging & exercising, girl....you'll see the results. Don't think about how much weight you have to lose in total, just take each pound (or ounce or gram) loss as a victory. You can do this!

I made smaller goals. 5 pound increments. You can do 5 pounds, right? Sure you can! With that mindset I lost 85 pounds.

That bold part is a big thing. Never look at the scale and think "I only lost three tenths of a pound." Banish the "only" or you can drive yourself crazy. It really does all add up. Think about how the pound creep on. It's ounce by ounce, not really pound by pound or 5 pounds by 5 pounds or 10 pounds by 10 pounds. They're going to go away the same way.

Thanks for your responses...sounds corny, but having a place where people actually support your goals does help.
