I'm hoping someone can help me here. I read somewhere that some veggies (red bell peppers for example) are virtually calorie free yet mfp says a while red bell pepper is 31 calories? Can someone explain ?

I'm not sure I understand the question - pretty much the only things that are calorie free are water and most artificial sweeteners. Vegetables are low calorie, but they are not calorie free.

People will say they're virtually calorie free because you can eat a far greater volume of most veggies than you can of other foods for the same amount of calories. 100 calories of chocolate is a small square or so. 100 calories of veggies will often fill a bowl.

Not calorie-free, though, so keep logging them :)

Generally my rule is "veggies are free". Not that they're calorie free, but I can eat as much of them as I want. I still log them, but if I'm hungry at any time outside of regular meals, I know the veggies are likely not going to be what pushes pushes me over my limit.
