I count calories here on mfp however, I make sure I don't have a lot of carbs If I do have carbs it's only one meal either brown rice at dinner or oatmeal for breakfast.0

I do both. In the end, it is calories that matter. HOW you get your deficit is subjective. Ketogenic eating helps me stick to my goals and think more about my food. For other people, they might not have the same obstacles I do, so they can eat whatever they'd like in moderation without worrying about binging.0

The difference between calories and carbs when it comes to weight loss: if you eat too many carbs but stay within your calorie limits, you'll lose weight. If you eat too many calories but stay within your carb limits, you'll gain weight.0

Cutting carbs will only work if it brings your overall calorie count low enough to have a calorie deficit so why not cut out the middle man?0

I track both and it is working great for me.0
