Don't give up. You can do it. I started MFP on January 14 3 years ago.. I'm still here and 78 pounds lighter.
Don't make unreasonable changes. Reasonable deficit. No crazy diet that requires you to stop eating the things you love. Start to move a bit more, even if it's just a walk around the block to start...

Good advice and good post! Congrats on 78 lbs. I'm a year behind you and like seeing people who are just a bit ahead of me who have kept plugging away at things.0 -

i started a year ago yesterday. 70 some pounds gone Have gone from a size 22 to a size 12.
and without crazy diets or elimination of foods or anything other than eating what i want ( just a whole lot less and WEIGHING it on a scale) and exercise. I eat on average 1500 cals a day. I eat out alllll the time. i drink (oh how i can drink) alllll the time and dont stress when my weight fluctuates. i eat normal foods. (yes my diary is open if you want to look LOL). I also logged in mfp EVERY day despite 2 moves, 2 deaths, and separating from my husband.
my advice to anyone new:
- get food scale. let it become your best friend and learn how to find the most accurate entries
- dont stress when weight fluctuates
- you will losr faster at first and then it will slow. accept that fact now and enjoy the quicker weight loss while it lasts
- dont be scared to eat out or drink. just plan for it
- dont freak out when you go over your calories.its really not a big deal
- exercise. its good for your heart and body and fitness (and energy) level
- LISTEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN DOING IT LONGER THAN YOU AND BEEN SUCCESSFUL. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT

I started over three years ago, took a year to lose 30lb, and have kept it off, in spite of numerous injuries, for 3 years.
Patience and getting on with the rest of your life.0 -
I started on January 20th two years ago. Learned a ton just by reading the forums (food scale=bff, don't have to cut foods out, weights do not mean bulk unless you're in a surplus). Plus I've met some amazing and inspiring people along the way. It's not impossible if you put a little effort into it.0

I began Jan 1st...I am not a water drinker but realize I must change this habit. I just ordered a motivational water bottle with fruit infuser, make it fun to drink and more flavorful. I've been on count calorie diets. My problem is I start eating less and less calories till I'm practically eating very few0
