I know this is a big part of weight loss or any other challenge life throws at you - to take it one day at a time.
When I think of this concept, it drives me crazy! I get so impatient and I can't believe I have to just wait it out.
How do you take it one day at a time?

By knowing where you want to be. Think of it as a 5-year plan. I've got friends who "can't have a 5 year plan, they don't know what they're doing tomorrow" but I look at that from the other side. If I know where I want to be in 5 years I know that what I do today, tomorrow etc for the 5 years has to get me towards where I want to be, otherwise I'm wasting time and energy.

I didn't gain this weight in one day one month or even one year, it's not going to disappear overnight either.

You also have to keep in mind that you didn't gain this weight in a day, a week, or even a month so there's no way you'll lose it in that time frame. It took a long time to put the weight on, it will take time to take it off.

When I think of today, I don't think in terms of my long range goals, I think "what do I have to do today that will help me reach those goals?" Then I make my plan based on that. Each day that I make it through and I stick to my plan is one step closer to my goal.

Also, set little mini goals to reach along the way. I have a lot to lose to I'm setting smaller "stepping stone" goals to help me not be so overwhelmed with the bigger numbers.

That's all you can do. It sucks, but it takes time and hard work. Took me 28 years to get to 260. Now I'm down to 220, 6 Months later. Hopefully another 40 pounds in 6 months lol!
