Which HRM do you like and why?

I'm looking to get a heart rate monitor and I could really use some feedback from the great pool of people who know, you guys! I am really just looking to be able to track my calorie burn.
Do I get the Polar FT4 or FT7 or maybe go Timex or Mio??? My head is spinning. When I asked the staff at Sports Challet they were no help. She actually recommended the FT1, which didn't say it calculated calories. So, I asked, "are you sure it does calorie, because, it doesn't say, like the others do?" She read the box, decided it didn't and picked another one. I can read the box, what I am looking for is advice.
Thank you guys for your suggestions!!

I have the FT4. I love it! I basically use it when I do workouts from DVDs or regular weights in the living room. I bought it online, for about $80. Its very comfortable and easy to use.0

I also use the FT4 and love it. The FT7 adds the ability to download your workout information to a website for archiving purposes... if you're entering everything in here you won't need that.0

The FT4 is great! It counts calories and you can replace the battery yourself unlike some Polar models. It does what you need it too, but doesn't have a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles.
Very user friendly. I got mine on Amazon for about $65, but not sure how much it is now.

I have the FT7 and I love it. It does everything I want it to...calories, heart rate, archive. I got it on Amazon for $82, which was a great deal. It is overwhelming, and I did a lot of research before I bought, but I don't have any regrets so far so I guess it was the right choice. The FT4 is also a good one, not quite all the features of the FT7, but if all you really want is the calories, it would be a great one too!0

I just asked the same question on my page! I am looking at the Polar F6, but it sounds like the F4 may be all I need.
I love the MFP community- so helpful!)

I have the Polar FT7 and I love it! It counts calories, is really easy to set up/use and the chest strap is really comfy. It holds 99 sessions and tells you week by week how much you burned total. You can also upload your data to your computer if you buy the optional flow-link adapter.
I'd highly advise that you steer clear of Timex.. Esp the Timex Unisex Zone Trainer that runs about 30-50 dollars depending on where you look. This HRM does not let you enter any info but your weight and overestimates on the calorie burn a lot!
What you optimally want is one that has a chest strap and lets you enter height, weight, age and sex. Any other features on the HRM are just extras.0 -
Thank you all!! This was so helpful! :flowerforyou:0
