It is an interesting tool but seems to be oriented towards a temporary state of calorie consumption commonly called a DIET. Of course, everyone "knows" that diets don't work. You will loose weight if you stick to one but, if you go off your diet (before or after reaching your goal) and put it back on, you are just teaching yourself lessons about futility.

Instead, I am a proponent of deciding the weight at which you will be happy living the rest of your life. Preferably, that will be smack in the middle of the "Normal" BMI range or 21.5. Next, figure out what your appropriate calorie consumption would be to maintain that weight. This is a good tool for that: http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html. Start eating that number today and keep eating it for the rest of your life. If you are way overweight, you will loose weight quickly at first and slower as you approach your goal. In any event, you will never "go off your Diet" and won't put the weight back on.

To calculate your "ideal" weight based on a BMI of 21.5, use one of the following formulas:
Metric—21.5 X Height in Meters² = Ideal Weight in Kilograms
Imperial—21.5 X (Height in Inches²/703) = Ideal Weight in Pounds

You might prefer to set an ideal target weight based on the more generous Hamwi formula or any of a few others using this nifty online calculator: http://www.calculator.net/ideal-weight-calculator.html. In any event, pick an number you are happy with and OWN it. Then start eating and/or exercising to maintain that number for the rest of your life.
