Log workouts

What do you guys use to log workouts? I want some place to not only track my calories burned/time involved...but also log my reps, weight, rest interval, etc. I definitely don't see that level of detail available in MFP, but is there another app that you guys use, which atleast syncs the calories to MFP? I checked out MapMyFitness and didn't see the right level of detail. I also checked UA record and had no success. Microsoft Health looks promising, but you need a Microsoft Band in order to even log a workout.

In the past I used Daily Burn, but they have changed their business model quite a bit.

Is there some other app/service out there that offers the ability to log workouts with that level of detail?

Thanks Todd. I checked that out, but didn't see a way to log the details about the workout, besides duration. there were a bunch of other metrics that aren't really applicable, like Pace, Route, or distance.

Here's a very basic example of a bodyweight workout that I would like to be able to log...

    Pushups - 60 seconds - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds
    Squats - 60 seconds - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds
    Situps - 60 seconds - # reps

    etc etc...

If it was a gym workout with weights involved, I would want to track something like:

    Rows - Weight - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds
    Rows - Weight - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds
    Curls - weight - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds
    Curls - weight - # reps
    Rest - 20 seconds

    etc, etc...

In the end you not only get an estimate of total calories burned, but a record of how much weight and/or how many reps you were able to do....so next time you can try to do better. This is a simple exercise with a notebook....but I want some way to bring it to the digital age.

i have a notebook in my gym bag that i log everything in. And i have used my own excel spreadsheets/charts at home to track calories, fitness etc. That way i can customize it the way i want. I've tried using the log on bodybuilding.com but it was too cumbersome to use and i like my log books to be hands on and easy to use at a glance. I also like to be able to add written notes about a particular workout that i can flip through easily.

    I use FitNotes.
It seems to work for what I want it to do.

Right there with you sonya. That's the tried and true method. Seems like a process that could use a digital refresh though.

Anyone know if the Fitbit site, or any of the other wearables sites, might handle this? I have a misfit Flash, but their site's metrics are very limited....only tracking things like minutes active, and total steps.

sweet. I'll check out Fitnotes too, Hippie.

Do you by chance know if it will sync the high level data, like calorie burn to myfitnesspal?

fitnotes seems promising. I'll fiddle with it a bit.

Another option that I stumbled on is Fitocracy. It looks like it has a very easy interface for designing and scheduling workouts ahead of time....sop all you need to do at the gym is confirm/enter your reps/weight.n Unfortunately it isn't integrated to MFP yet either though, so still two dashboards to track progress.

Fitocracy; it's easy to look back at what you've done. I personally don't care if it's tracked here or not.

I just started using this app and ran into the exact same problem. I've been cruising the App Store with no success. I'm curious to know if fitocracy and fitnotes work for you when put into practice. I've also seen a few paid apps that look interesting, but hesitate to put money down on something that might not work. If anyone has tried full fitness or fitness buddy I'd be curious to know what you think.

Sonya, would love to know how you calculate your calories burned on your spreadsheet.

tracking health metrics makes being healthy more quantifiable and almost gamifies it. For instance, to be able to view my calorie intake on a chart, next to my activity...or a graph of my weight over time....those are all motivating analytics. I'm surprised no one has capitalized on the same idea for weigh training or other non-cardio workouts. I want to be able to see my bench press stats over time, or my number of pull-ups/dips/etc. Hell, in an ideal world, I would want to see all of those stats crammed into the same dashboard with calories, weight, activity, so you could gain some insights into how they are all interdependent. Was I stronger this day after eating better, or sleeping better, etc..

Maybe that's the direction the industry is moving in, and I just need to wait....or maybe I need to figure out how to make this stuff myself and sell it to Under Armour for $500M like MyFitnessPal did :)

I also use Fitnotes, but it would be nice to have everything in one place. I have my Fitbit account for my Charge, Fitnotes to track my extercise numbers numbers (reps, distance, etc), map my run to...map my run, and MFP for food. Each one has has something I like best, but can't find an all inclusive.

I'd just enter the number off my HRM arm band. I didn't use the spreadsheet to calculate my calories, i used it to track them. here is a blog i wrote about it 3 years ago. this was more for weight loss, not for logging my lifts. I have a separate note book i hand write in to track my lifting.
