allllll of the BLOAT!

I am on a 1200 calorie "plan" so to speak... and I am so terribly bloated since I started (about a week and a half ago, I'm on my third "new start")

my *ahem* bm *ahem* are a lot less regular...which always tends to happen.

any recommendations of how to keep things moving without sacrificing precious calories?
I try to get some fruit in my diet as I'm not keen on vegetables...and I drink a lot of water...

any help much appreciated as I'm starting to look preggo ^.^

Have you gone very low fat? A lack of dietary fat will bind you up.

going low fat is not doing right :)

you need a minimum protein and fat in defecit

    set it at
protein 0.64g per lb bodyweight MINIMUM
fat 0.35g per lb bodyweight MINIMUM

exercise, drink, eat raspberries (well any fibre source but raspberries are the most delicious IMHO)

and 1200 calories is extremely low anyway so I hope it's your base on top of which you are eating purposeful exercise back

    I'm doing this all wrong.
I think its so easy to get caught up in "low fat" and "low calorie" rather that what is actually "healthy"

Thank you for the advice, i'll try some raspberries :)

Can you eat quest bars once in a while? They are high in fiber. Also, Thomas English Muffin, whole grain, Litght, has like 100 calories and 8 grams of fiber.

For me, fewer carbs and more healthy fats are what keep me unbloated and regular. Tons of veg and fruit wasn't even helping me with that.

Drinking plenty of water helps, eating fruits and veggies, coffee helps, if all else fails, take some fiber.

Just be careful, quest bars have given me pretty terrible lower digestive issues when I eat the whole thing. Perhaps try half.

Also, give your body time to adjust to your new diet. I find that once I switch to a lower calorie diet for a few days my BMs basically disappear, and then my new schedule gets established until I over eat. I got very used to daily bowel movements, and I don't feel quite right without them but I know I'm not constipated so I don't worry too much. Slow doesn't mean stopped, so don't go for medical intervention.

This is also something to consider - BMs are the excretion of waste. When you restrict calories a lot, you make far less waste. So you might think you're blocked up because you haven't gone, when really, there's just less waste to excrete.

Things with fiber won't sacrifice calories. As others have said, add water and dont increase your fiber too much too fast

Eat a few avacodo's, the healthy fats will let things flow.

Failing that , a few dried apricots never fail . High sugar I believe but healthy enough if you go to the gym to 'burn them off'

As always brilliant advice. It's all part of the transition I guess :)
Thank you, I can sleep well in the knowledge I'm not gonna explode from lack of bm and it will regulate itself with some clever eating
