Spartan Race Suggestions?

I'm running my first spartan race on 1/31. I've been 'training' for a month and have a few weeks to go. I'm already in descent shape, so not a beginner. Training has been 3 days/week of Crossfit plus a 3 mile lunch run when I'm able, 4 mile runs on the other 2 days of the week, and a 30 mile bike ride on Saturday.
We're doing the short ~3mi distance. If you've completed a Spartan race, do you have any tips on training for these last few weeks? Any day of suggestions? How tough is it? I've run 8 marathons (although not currently anywhere near marathon shape) but don't know what to expect from this event.

The Sprints arent too bad really. Just keep doing exactly what you're doing. The only thing that might help is do some trail running.0

With your level of fitness you should be fine. The sprint was challenging but doable. My Super experience was miserable because of the weather conditions.0

Your plan looks good but I would suggest that you are practicing burpees, Spartan style, along your run. I usually stop every mile on my 3 mile run and do 10-15. The penalty for failing an obstacle is 30 burpees. The spear throw gets me every time! Also, ensure your doing pull-ups. This will help with the walls, rope climb and the Hercules hoist. People wear gloves and I suggest you get used to doing obstacles without them. I did my first couple with gloves and found they were an obstacle in itself. Lastly, did I mention doing burpees?! Good luck!0

Thanks. I'm doing it with a work group and I definitely won't be the slowest. We're going to stick together so if anything I might just get a little bored. My longer term goal is to run the Pike's Peak Ascent again in August so I'll be doing a lot of trail running once I get my weight down a little more.0

The mountain is the real hard part of Spartans, obstacles are a nice break. I recommend the elliptical with a high resistance, I do a crossramp of 4/10 and a resistance of 16 out of max 20.0

Last two weeks? DONT OVER DO IT.
Your fitness level isn't going to change. All you will do is tire yourself out and risk injury. Best advice is to eat healthy. Having good nutrition two weeks straight before a race can do wonders to your performance. Go out and have fun. Best of luck! I know a few people who will be out for Temecula (I'm on the East Coast).0 -
Good luck and have fun!!! I did my first a Beast on 10/31. My training consisted of my normal Crossfit workouts 5-6 times a week and two 3-4 mile runs during the week with a long run on Saturdays. Longest prep run I did was 11 miles.
Damn monkey bars got me, as my grip was GONE late in the race.
HAVE FUN!0
