Turbo Fire/Injuries?

First of all - LOVE Turbo Jam and thought I'd LOVE Turbo Fire - which, I do, but it doesn't love me back. I've tried, and tried, and tried again to get through the program, as it's set up. I get to week two, every time, and get a new injury it seems. I am about 98% sure I use good form. I modify it when necessary, and keep it low impact with the HIIT workouts (still getting an effective workout, for sure). Anyone else having problems or am I the only unfortunately soul who cannot seem to get in the groove here? First injury was a twisted patella (not the best knees, hence the modifications) that took about 3 months to heal. I finally got started again but the knee just wasn't digging it, so, took time off. I have now started...AGAIN...and, like clock work, week 2, the knee flares up - I am now experiencing residual muscle issues on that knee, that I'm back in for treatment on, and, I'm not sure if it's related, but I shifted my low back/hip and am having hip issues. *sigh* Just REALLY hoping I can eventually get in the groove, stop getting hurt, and get FIT! I LOVE me some Turbo Fire - why must it hurt me so? :noway:

I just started Turbo Fire 2 weeks ago. I have not injured myself "yet" but I could see how one could. I hope you feel better soon!

Too bad I keep getting hurt or we could be on the same page and motivating each other! I'm going to try, AGAIN, starting Monday (pending the "all clear" from the chiro) and will prob just start BACK at the BEGINNING!

If your knee(s) don't ever completely heal, you should have them examined. You could have a meniscus tear or some other injury. If you rotated the patella, and you're still able to walk on it, but it doen't completely heal, that should be a warning to you. Really common injury.

**edit I see you did have it looked at. I had to go several times and insist that it was an injury. Hard to see on XRay.

Oh, yes, I'm a frequent flyer @ the chiro lately. I dislocated both knees (not at the same time) as a teenager, and dealt with it for a VERY long time - was finally doing well, and losing weight REALLY helped, and then, poof, out of nowhere, I ended up with the latest injury - I refused to go to a regular doc, knowing the chiro would help me, and it took a good amt of time, but it finally felt ok - just recently did I start having pain again so I went back in ASAP (NASTY injury I do NOT want to repeat) and he says it's not rotating, but it seems to be residual muscle issues - I've had another 5 adjustments on it - def getting there - but, man, oh man - NOT FUN! I really hope to get the rest of the weight off, putting less strain on my knees, but, it's hard when they will not cooperate! :)

Oh that's AWFUL! I FINALLY have my knee "fixed" but I still have some issues. I've been doing turbo fire here and there with no issues - I think I get so into it sometimes that i don't realize Im twisting and turning improperly! I hope you get feeling better ASAP!

I've been doing turbo fire for a couple years and I LOVE it, I do, and I lost a lot of weight! Unfortunately, I think rotating the hips with too much fervor caused me to tear my hip labral! This injury takes FOREVER to heal, so I wanted to warn other ladies to be careful when you swivel your hips for those punches!

I have done Turbo Fire for years and never had issues but I can see how it could happen. I would just say to make sure you stick with the modifying moves until you are comfortable, and maybe take it at a slower pace, they do move very fast for how complicated some of the moves are. Also maybe wear a knee brace at least while you are working out for more stability, and make sure you are lifting your back foot when you do the pivot moves, you can't plant that foot and twist your knee, OUCH! Plyometrics aren't for everyone, my hubby is way more fit then me but his knees just can't take plyometric movement, you gotta listen to your body and maybe just keep those feet on the ground.
