Newbie question here. If I follow the nutrition guide, that is eating the proper amount of carbs , protein , etc will that put me on a great path to significantly lower my body fat or is it more designed for weight loss? I really want to focus on fat loss and need some basic direction please.

When you lose weight about 70% of that weight is fat, so your % body fat will decline as you lose weight.

I think this can vary. It depends on how lean you are; genetics; the program you are doing (lifting helps retain muscle, meaning higher % of loss from fat; macro breakdown (are you getting adequate protein for your amount/type of activity); size of deficit, smaller deficit should result in higher % fat loss; and a few more, but minor, considerations.

indeed it can vary, hence "about". Exercise improves it, macro ratio influence it, deficit doesn't seem to matter much, typically most diet studies come out about 70%.

At 100% the argument gets stronger for %BF reducing with weight loss. You would struggle to make it go up.

Thanks for the info here, I thought I might clarify the reason for my question. I'm in a fat loss competition with some friends and I can't afford to go see a nutritionist to find out exactly what I should be eating, therefore I'm trying to use this app to tell me what how to balance my diet
