Depends on how much. if it's a couple drinks, I don't see the harm. Go for it.0

I budget in a few (Light) beers everyday and still lose weight. My opinion is calories are calories but that's just me.0

You can shave off calories during the week so you have have more of whatever on the weekend. Many folks use a weekly calorie goal for just this reason and it works just fine.0
-
Not for drinking but for eating... Yup..0

Hell yeah. Then again, I loathe beer (which is a lot more caloric than say vodka). Switching to liquor can also save calories that way if you're worried about being fit, but also trying to turn up at the same time :P0

I don't like beer( vodka diet Pepsi ) need a few on a weekend after aweek with my kids ha! But will still try and burn sum off walking my hangover off probably xx0

Here is the entry that I use: Carry Over - Unused Calories From Past Week -200.
Did you know you can put a negative number in your log?
I can drink a beer and stop. Rum, I can easily drink 4 ounces in a bit of diet coke.0 -
Intermittent fasting baby! save all the calories u want.. You could just fast for 24 hours.. then drink a 12 pack!0

Food and drink, yep. Think about it...a lot of people have maintained their weight for years without ever calorie counting. I highly doubt they eat the same exact amount of calories per day. Part of maintenance is understanding how to make it work for your lifestyle.0

While a drink or two isn't going to hurt your long-term plans, remember that packing as much nutrition into your calories is what makes you healthy. If your goal is to just lose weight - drink whatever fits in your calories. If your goal is to be healthy - pack those nutrients into your food and enjoy one or two drinks on the weekend at most.0

I just give myself a splurge day once in a while, log it, and then add a bit of extra exercise where I can. I find if I get in a 'banking' mindset, I end up on a fast/binge track, which is bad.0

I have been doing that for the last 2 years ( except for the 2 months i was on wellbutrin to stop smoking, drinking could have caused seizes) and I lost 160 lbs.0

All the time but for cake0

Of course!, I work by butt off hard and double all week just to have my fun on the weekend, Love my drink!0

I'm more active on weekends as a rule so it seems to balance if I want a few drinks or a treat that wouldn't normally fit the plan. Unless I get nutty like I did over the holidays and don't get back on track the next day or get in the exercise-I'm paying for that now. FWIW, I can fit in a glass of wine with dinner OR a small dessert just about any night; if I want both, it takes preplanning & probably a salad for lunch.0

Alcohol has NO nutritional value - so you shouldn't cut back on food for drinking. You have to eat the correct amount of macro-nutrients. It's much better to do a bit more exercise and earn yourself that week-end treat...0

First, I read the title of this thread as "saving cats", so I guess I have seen too much animal rescue stuff on FB this morning. lol.
But, I drink vodka and diet coke, and only have a few, and not every weekend, so I don't worry too much about saving calories for it.0 -

Nope in my personal opinion alcohol is horrible for you. It's responsible for so many deaths, yet the entire world is okay with it because everyone sells it to them.0 -
I assume that you are in maintenance, since this is the Maintenance Forum. In that case, I see no reason for working in a few drinks into your week. Lots of us do. I enjoy my glass of wine with dinner many nights a week. But those calories add up, so I keep a close eye on my CICO.
It is true that there is no good reason to drink alcohol, so kudos to those who choose not to do so. Wine, however, is one of my little pleasures that I won't drop. We all have our vices. (Just don't over do it. Sorry, I'm a mom...)0 -
I get plenty of protein and fat for my body to function, enough carbs to give me energy. I lift 2-3 times a week, have roller derby practice 5-8 hrs a week plus games, and go rock climbing twice a week. You better believe I am going to have my wine on the weekend if I want :P Sure food is fuel, but it is also enjoyable. There is no way I am going to go the rest of my life denying myself things that I enjoy, just because they aren't 100% nutritious. Same for cake on my birthday, popcorn at the movies, and potato chips when required.

I save calories for a few drinks a week. Nothing wrong with it as long as you are getting enough nutritious food in your diet. I usually space them out throughout the week, though, rather than just the weekend.0

People on here typically call it "banking" calories. I aim not for a set amount of calories per day, but instead a set amount of calories per week. Every day, I shave off 40 cal here, 120 cal there, so that when Saturday hits I can drink those 5 diet coke and vodkas. Works perfectly well for me.0

How do people log it, when they bank calories?0
