The new sugar recommendations

Been working toward reducing sugars to 10% or less of total calories for the day, per new USDA recommendations. Added sugars, at least. It's pretty bad, though, when a pop-up reminds me that my goal for the day was 30 grams of sugar or less and it's not even ten a.m.! Yoplait and Starbucks mocha, okay, that's it. Protein and veggies the rest of the day.

I minimized my sugars to 65 grams a day and I lost 2.8 last week!

I have stayed under 20g of sugar for over 3 months now. I feel the only way to be able to do that is with a Ketogenic diet. Removing carbs from your diet makes not eating sugar incredibly easy.

As far as cravings go, they are pretty intense at first, I recommend very dark chocolate (85% cocoa or higher), or you could try protein shakes, which is my usual sweet tooth craving.

The effect is incredible, sweetness is now a completely different palette than before. I was given some Rose Champagne for New Years, and it was so incredibly sweet I couldn't take more than a sip.

Basically if you're on a 1200 calorie diet, the grams would then be 120 grams of sugar or a little less right based on the 10% rule?
